Mill Creek Country Club Sale Postponed Until Wednesday Update: Country Club Goes to Macon Bank for $880,000

**WEDNESDAY SEPTEMBER 4, 2013 UPDATE**

Macon Bank purchased the Mill Creek Country Club property on the steps of the Macon County Courthouse for $880,000. The last time the property was sold, it went for $2,150,000.

The Mill Creek Country Club has been assessed at a valuation of $2,644,580, of which $1,529,380 is the building's value and $1,115,200 is the value of the 100 acres of land for tax purposes.

Mill Creek Country was scheduled to be sold to the highest bidder today at noon on the steps of the Macon County Court House.

A small crowd of perhaps two dozen people gathered to observe the proceeding and at ten minutes after noon, an official came out and announced that the sale had been postponed until Wednesday, September 4th, at 3pm at the request of the note holder.

Mark Meadows and Hayden Rogers Debate at WCU

Last night, I covered the NC11 debate at Western Carolina University that took place between Mark Meadows and Hayden Rogers, both vying for the seat of the retiring Congressman Heath Shuler.

Russ Bowen, of WLOS-TV, moderated the debate that was sponsored by the Political Science and Public Affairs Department and the Public Policy Institute at Western Carolina University.

It was a spirited debate and I think it contrasted the two candidates for congress very well. In two weeks, one of these men will be the Congressman-elect for our district.

US Senator Rubio Sends Letter to President Obama

In a scathing letter to President Obama, US Senator Rick Rubio has told told the President "I will oppose your request to continue borrowing and spending recklessly." The full letter is below. 


In my opinion, this signifies that Rubio is interested in becoming the running mate of who ever wins the Republican Nomination this year.
