Carol Yerkes' son, Jay Yerkes, was murdered on April 24, 2004 on Lexington Avenue in Asheville, North Carolina by Mark Elkins. The murderer worked a plea deal with notorious D.A. Ron Moore, and received 16 month sentence for Involuntary Manslaughter, a class F felony on December 16, 2004, according to court records.
Mark Elkins has been released from prison and is wanted on charges of armed robbery.
Carol has now started an advocacy group called Justice Advocates for You, and Richard Bernier, of URTV's Sound Off Buncombe was there:
