Spring Fever 2010 Blogburst, First Edition

I've experienced a bit of the doldrums lately as I've contracted a severe case of spring fever. I've spent too much time going over my seed collection and garden design plans for the coming growing season. Here are some excerpts and links to what other people have been blogging about to hold you over until I work my way back from the depths of this illness...

The essay notes that the purpose of the Nobel Peace Prize has changed from its origins in the first few years following Alfred Nobel's death, during the first decade of the 20th century. According to Nobel's will, the award was to go to those whose "accomplishments" had most advanced the cause of international peace. But over the life of the recognition -- and especially in recent decades -- the Nobel Prize Committee has sought to honor those showing the greatest promise of future peace. This is the Nobel's "aspirational" mode -- that is, an award for the best of peace to come. Not only is this a corruption of Alfred Nobel's original vision, it is deadly international politics as well. As Krebs shows:

Public Policy Polling found in January that 49 percent of those surveyed trusted Fox News. In contrast, only 39 percent trusted CNN. Next came NBC, including its sister network MSNBC, with 35 percent. Least trusted were CBS with 32 percent and ABC with 31 percent.


That trust shows up in ratings and profits. While competitors have been laying off employees, Fox has been expanding.

“The longest suicide note in history” is not a phrase I came up with. I stole it from some talking head on TV. For the life of me, I cannot remember his name. But, whoever said it was “spot on!”


This week the Democratic Party is scheduled to commit suicide. Their intention to ram ObamaCare, a socialized medicine bill, down the collective throats of a highly P.O.ed America will finish them off for the remainder of 2010 and most likely return them to the wilderness whence they came. For the record, we’d like to say: “Good Riddance!”

The only way to legally change or adjust the Constitution is through amendments. Precedent Law and Implied Powers were first utilized by Alexander Hamilton and the Federalists, and later used by John Marshall in order to subvert the Constitution because they did not like the limiting principles of the document. What you are falling for is the same garbage pushed by the Federalists in order to try to turn America's government into a system similar to what we fought against with Britain. The shock troops of the Federalist Party used Hamilton's arguments for a centralized nationalist system as federally appointed judges so that they could rewrite history and the Constitution. That was the beginning of liberal judicial activism. They made sure to get those judges in place under John Adams by appointing hundreds of "midnight judges" to the federal judiciary during the final hours of his administration. With Jefferson coming into office the hope was for the judges to subvert the new administration's strict construction of the Constitution and its limited government policies.


When Jefferson canned the judges, he was accused of waging war on the judiciary, and one of those judges sued. You guessed it, the judge was Marbury. Marbury v. Madison resulted in an opinion being written that was later used as an excuse for the Supreme Court of the United States to claim it was the final arbiter of the Constitution.

Got my census form in the mail today. In a box on the front of the envelope, in big bold letters, is says YOUR RESPONSE IS REQUIRED BY LAW. Ok, let's see what these bastards want....


There is a page that informs me that my information is "confidential", and will only be used for "statistical" purposes. Right, like the "statistics" that sent Japanese and German immigrants to internment camps during WWII.


Question #1 wants to know how many people live in this house, apartment, or mobile home. I am also advised not to count anyone currently serving in the military, away at college, in a nursing home, or in jail. Fair enough, they can know that, because it's Constitutionally required to set the number of "representatives" in CONgress.


Question #2 wants to know about any additional people not accounted for in question #1. A bit redundant?

Their goal -- using accounting gimmickry, outright fabrications and straw villains (doctors who do too many amputations, health insurers, pharmaceutical companies, etc.) -- convince the public that a government takeover of the entire health system would result in higher quality and lower costs while insuring between 30 and 50 million more individuals.


The people rebelled. They said hell, no.

Check the video at about 2:45 minutes. We have "Coffee Party" founder Annabel Park claiming that "Democracy isn't supposed to be about two teams fighting ... it is community of people advancing common good."


Well, that's an odd definition of democracy (since, for example, political scientists consider two party competition, er, fighting, as essential to democratic government). But check Ed's additional comments on the hypocrisy.

In light of Israel's rebuilding of the Hurva Shul in the Old City of Jerusalem, Hamas has declared a "day or rage".


- Khatem Abd el-Kader, holder of the Fatah's Jerusalem portfolio, called on Palestinians to “converge on Al-Aksa to save it” from “Israeli attempts to destroy the mosque and replace it with the temple.” (JPost)


- Khader called the renovation of the Hurva a “provocation” and warned Israel that it was “playing with fire.” (JPost)


- Mayor of the Beduin city Rahat, Faiz Abu-Sabihan , expressed his support in the struggle, saying that Jews have no right over the Temple Mount, and that Israel's "provocative actions, which undermine the peace, must be stopped." (JPost)


Starting their rage, masked Palestinians clashed with Israeli police in multiple Jerusalem neighborhoods today, hurling rocks and burning tires.

Judi McLeod, writing in the Canada Free Press, notes that President Obama is looking more like a Tin Pot Dictator than a messiah since his tussle with Rush Limbaugh. So much for Free Speech, eh? President Obama, your Lefty Totalitarianism is showing...

Common Cents has a pair of videos in the Video Vault that are worth watching (but not without Kleenex---you've been warned).

The Gates of Vienna have a very detailed and comprehensive news feed that you should check out.

Another blogger that does an excellent job of providing news coverage is the one at Peace Like A River, as does Threats Watch, who focuses on military matters.

Gateway Pundit has the utter stupidity of Democrat Nancy Pelosi essentially declaring that killing babies will save money and stimulate the economy. Boy, if she keeps saying stupid stuff like that, (and the GOP doesn't screw up) we could take the US House back in 2010.

A group effort at Watts Up With That? has reached an important milestone in the effort to survey the 1221 surface stations used to monitor temperature, the project has surveyed 819, or 67% of the stations in the USA. You can help this project by surveying a station near you. The North Carolina Survey is 90% complete, and can be viewed in this online gallery.

Carolina blogger Longstreet observes that President Obama has picked the wrong fight when he chose to attack Rush Limbaugh.

And in the Communist-Occupied city of Asheville, NC, the SDS will be staging a "teach-in" to spread propaganda a lies about how Hamas is not a terrorist organization and Israel is.

The primary force to battle the Communists in asheville is The Carolina Stompers, and they have a letter from Dr. Mumpower posted on their site...which is nearing its sceduled re-launch date.

Last, but certainly not least, AshVegas has noted a boom in the construction of liquor stores in Asheville.

West Carolina Roundup 01-22-2009

Here is my latest look around western North Carolina to see what's going on...

Social Networks have become hot on the right side of the political spectrum, and it has reached West Carolina...

Things are starting to get busy at the Conservative Thunder Social Network (formed in July 2008) as new members receive training on basic HTML and gain access to Thunder Pig's armory of web tools and secret online database.

Conservative Thunder member Richard Bernier has started a social network for Republicans in Buncombe County, and according to an email, no RINOs need apply.

Ron Paul fans have started a Ning of their own, but the membership is moderated and the material available for members only. Now, that is deliciously ironic! Kinda defeats the whole purpose of a "liberty-minded group" don't cha think?

However, not all Paul fans are close minded, Paul Metcalf, of Henderson County, has formed an excellent Ning Community called Rebuilding the Right. Even though I disagree with him philosophically, he gets it when it comes to forming a social network. I will eagerly watch the growth of his network, and the synergy it will create.

Leslee Kulba, writing at the John Locke Foundation blog, Wild West, is less than exuberant over the doubling of the land use options proposed by planners, and I agree. It is like giving a slave the choice of the color of their chain that holds them in slavery.

And my favorite blogger west of the Balsams is like a duck on a junebug when it comes to all things Chancellor Bardo of Western Carolina University.

Longstreet has called Bovine Scatology on President Obama for taking America into harm's way. He is not afraid of being a truth teller in a world of liars.

The progressive group blog, Scrutiny Hooligans, reports on a rumor that former Buncombe County Commissioner David Young may have support from NC Governor Bev Perdue for chair of the NC Democrat Party. I guess corruption loves corruption, huh?

Where's The Outrage? has a news roundup from a progressive point of view.

AshVegas reports on preparations for Groundhog Day. I'm betting on six more weeks of winter in this cooling trend.

Lefties in the North Carolina General Assembly, as reported in the Asheville Citizen-Times, have chosen the members of a committee to determine the effects of oil or natural gas exploration off the coast of North Carolina. Let me guess the results of the study...they're not gonna bite the hand that feeds them, and they'll say it is "environmentally unsound". If the NCGOP had any foresight, they'd be paying attention to this, and formulate a proper response...looking forward to 2010.

The Andrews Journal, sporting a new look, reports on Annalyn VanBuskirk becoming an American.

The Swain County Sheriff and County commissioners are looking at ways to improve security in the wake of an inmate escape, according to the Smoky Mountain Times. []

The Crossroads Chronicle is reporting that the Cashiers Village council members are taking action to implement the results of the socialist Mountain Landscapes Iniative charettes, and they are very proud of their part, too. Lord, please save us from the socialists!!! All these "local councils" remind more of the many "soviets" that did the will of the Communist party in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics than anything American.

The Franklin Press has a report on a local MLK celebration that was energized by the thought of the Obama Inauguration.

The Clay County progress notes that the Clay-Towns Development Authority is coming to an end. The Clay-Towns Industrial Park was formed in 2005 under authority of the North Carolina and Georgia legislatures in the hopes that they could attract industries to the area.

The Graham Star has a story on the February 18, 2009 deadline given by FEMA to Graham County to comply with floodplain guidelines or lose access to all federal disaster funds and all flood insurance in the unincorporated areas of the county will be cancelled. So, the people of Graham County are feeling the hard hand of their Federal Oppressors who have addicted the local governments to easy money...all they have to do now is threaten withdrawal of funds...and the locals are now forced to comply...for they have lost the knowledge of freedom.

The Cherokee Scout has a report on a local observance of MLK Day in Murphy.

In Jackson County, the Sylva Herald reports on the 3-2 vote to continue the fight with Duke Power to save the Dillsboro Dam. Commissioners Brain McMahan, Joe Cowan and mark Jones voted to continue, while Tom Massie and William Shelton voted to give up.

According to the The Mountain Xpress, the Buncombe County commission has voted unanimously to once again televise public comments at their meetings. The vote takes effect at the February 3, 2009 meeting.

The Carolina Stompers have noted that the cost of the Coronation, I mean Inauguration of Obama will cost 110 million dollars!!! That's nearly 30 cents per person in the country.

Cold Fury has an article on the Clinton/Rodham crime family.

Conservatives United! has a post on indoctrination.

Hillbilly White Trash has comments on the little messiah's new pastime, RINO hunting.

The Inner Banks Eagle also comments on it, noting that conservative has lost it's meaning. I can only add that it lost it's meaning long ago, and certain proof was that John McCain called himself a conservative with near impunity in this last election cycle, and most "conservative" bloggers let him. I did not, and also noted that the majority of active Republicans are not conservative. 

The problem is that most people think of themselves as conservative in our party because they get the warm fuzzies about President Reagan, and neglect to actually study conservatism, or it's history.
