Dobbs v Women's Health Orghanization Ruling by the Supreme Court Sends Abortion Back to the States

Today, the US Supreme Court released its ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and overturned the 1973 Roe v Wade ruling and the 1992 Planned Parent v Casey rulings.

Macon Media has embedded the decision and provided links to the ruling so you can read it for yourself without having a news outlet or talking head tell you what it says. For those who want to see what legal experts and pundits are saying, links to some of those are included. The White House has scheduled a news briefing for 2pm today, and the Dobbs decision is likely to be the main topic of that event. A video player has also been embedded so you can either watch it live or you can come back later and watch it when you have time. Other videos have been embedded below that with early reactions.

Tomorrow's news and weather briefing will have a special section devoted to the ruling and the reactions to it.

Defend Life Parade/March in Franklin

Son Rise Ministries organized a Parade/March to Defend Life this past Saturday in Franklin. Members of the community gathered at the flagpole at Angel Medical Center and marched to the courthouse plaza where several speakers addressed those gathered. The topic was protecting the unborn against abortion. A video of the event at the courthouse plaza is posted below and then below that are some photos taken during part of the march and during the speaking portion of the event.

IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST

**note** Macon Media covers political events like this because it is in the public interest for the electorate to be exposed to all sides of an issue without it it first being filtered for time or space in a broadcast or in a newspaper. These events also need to be shared in their entirety without being filtered through the personal or organizational agendas of reporters or news outlets.

From the Facebook Event Page:

A march to "Defend Life" will be held in downtown Franklin,
Saturday, May 4th @ 10am - 11:30am.
Let's join together, sending a message to NC Governor Roy Cooper, and other State and National Leaders, that we want the Sanctity of Life put back in to the center of our law.
Meet at the flagpole of Angel Hospital at 10:00am
March or Drive up Town Hill (Main Street Franklin.)
At the Courthouse Plaza, NC State Representative, Kevin Corbin, and Dr. David Ramsey will be Guest Speakers.
The March will continue to the Franklin High School, whereby a van can transport you back to your vehicle.
(Parking is available across from the Hospital, and at any unoccupied medical building).
It's time to 'Stand Up' for Life...and be a voice for the unborn.

American Attitudes on Abortion

Quinnipiac has conducted a national survey that is quite extensive and includes a few questions on  attitudes toward abortion and here are the crosstabs of one of those questions:

57. Do you think abortion should be legal in all cases, legal in most cases, illegal in most cases or illegal in all cases?

Choices Tot Rep Dem Ind Men Wom Wht Blk His
Legal all cases 22% 12% 33% 21% 20% 24% 22% 21% 19%
Legal most cases 33% 21% 40% 37% 35% 30% 32% 36% 39%
Illegal most cases 25% 37% 12% 27% 27% 23% 27% 20% 22%
Illegal all cases 14% 24% 10% 9% 13% 16% 14% 16% 14%
DK/NA 6% 5% 5% 6% 6% 6% 5% 7% 6%

Survey of 2,605 registered voters was conducted February 14-20, 2012. The margin of error is +/- 1.9 percentage points. Party ID: 30% Democrat; 28% Republican; 33% Independent. [Click here to see the entire poll]

Those opposed to abortion are losing the battle of public opinion and polls like this should serve as a warning that their current strategies and tactics in this culture war are not working. Those of us who are opposed to abortion should go back to the drawing board and develop another set of strategies and tactics if we hope to win this cultural war.

There was also a question regarding Roe v Wade and 64% of Americans agreed with the court decision while 31% opposed.

I've broken down the numbers on question #57 a bit further:

Do you think abortion should be legal in all cases, legal in most cases, illegal in most cases or illegal in all cases?

Manhattan Declaration: A Call of Christian Conscience

A formidable coalition of 150 Catholic, Orthodox and evangelical leaders are calling on Christians in a new manifesto to reject secular authority – and even engage in civil disobedience – if laws force them to accept abortion, same-sex marriage and other ideas that betray their religious beliefs.

On Friday, these leaders released a 4,700-word document – called the "The Manhattan Declaration: A Call of Christian Conscience."

The document was signed by leaders ranging from evangelical leader Chuck Colson to two of the leading Catholic prelates in the U.S., Archbishop Donald Wuerl of Washington, D.C. and Archbishop Timothy Dolan of New York, and calls on Christians to engage in civil disobedience to defend their doctrines.

President Obama Seeks "Common Ground" on the Murder of 40 Million Souls

All I can say on this issue at the moment is to ask if President Obama would seek "common ground" on Hitler's final solution of the Jews in Europe?

There is no common ground to be found on murder. Abortion is as evil as Hitler's Final Solution.

Alan Keyes Among Abortion Protesters Arrested at Notre Dame

Photo: Alan Keyes and Operation Rescue at Notre Dame via Beliefnet

Former Illinois U.S. Senate candidate Alan Keyes and 21 other protesters were arrested this morning when they refused to leave the Notre Dame campus during a protest of President Obama's upcoming commencement address there, authorities said.

Keyes and the others were arrested on trespassing charges when they refused to leave campus, a university spokesman said. All 22 were being held in the St. Joseph County Jail on misdemeanor criminal trespass charges, in lieu of $250 bond each, said St. Joseph County Sheriff's Sgt. Bill Redman.

Keyes was among a group of 26 protesters, some of them pushing baby carriages with dolls covered in fake blood, who entered the campus and were greeted by Notre Dame police, said university spokesman Dennis Brown.

The protesters had "publicized their intentions in advance," and were handed notices advising them that university policy bans protests unless they are organized by student groups and approved in advance, Brown said.

University policy is to arrest anyone who refuses to leave campus after being notified of the policy, and Keyes and other protesters who stayed were arrested about 12:15 p.m. Eastern Time, he said.

I think it is time that lefties got a taste of their own medicine. We'll see how well they deal with their tactics being used against them (except for the violence part). There is a local group putting on a similar event in Franklin later today and I will bring you some photos of that if I can manage to be in town when it occurs.

President Obama was for Experimenting on Fetuses before he was against it

Thank You Mr. President for refusing to allow monsters to experiment on the unborn. Now this is change we can believe in!

(CNSNews.com) - On Wednesday, only two days after he lifted President Bush’s executive order banning federal funding of stem cell research that requires the destruction of human embryos, President Barack Obama signed a law that explicilty bans federal funding of any "research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death."

The provision was buried in the 465-page omnibus appropriations bill that Obama signed Wednesday.  Known as the Dickey-Wicker amendment, it has been included in the annual appropriations bill for the Department of Health and Human Services every fiscal year since 1996.

The amendment says, in part: "None of the funds made available in this Act may be used for—(1) the creation of a human embryo or embryos for research purposes; or (2) research in which a human embryo or embryos are destroyed, discarded, or knowingly subjected to risk of injury or death."

Found in Section 509 of Title V of the omnibus bill (at page 280 of the 465-page document), the federal funding ban not only prohibits the government from providing tax dollars to support research that kills or risks injury to a human embryo, it also mandates that the government use an all-inclusive definition of “human embryo” that encompasses any nascent human life from the moment that life comes into being, even if created in a laboratory through cloning, in vitro fertilization or any other means.

Video: Planned Parenthood covers up statutory rape … again

The Mona Lisa Project exposed two Indiana abortion clinics last year that covered up reportable felonies and illegally told underage minors to cross state lines for their abortions. At the time, Lila Rose told us that more Planned Parenthood violations would come to light from her undercover work last summer. Today, another shoe drops, but this time in Tucson, where a nurse advises what she thinks is a 15-year-old patient to keep an abusive relationship from the court...

Bill Clinton Lashes Out Against Pro-Lifers in Steubenville, Ohio

STEUBENVILLE – Agitated after being greeted by over a hundred pro-life students at a rally in Steubenville tonight, Clinton lost his temper yet again after losing his cool at an Obama supporter in Canton, Ohio. This time, Clinton lashed out during his speech at the pro-life students:

“I gave you the answer. We disagree with you,” Clinton said. “You wanna criminalize women and their doctors and we disagree… I reduced abortion… Tell the truth, tell the truth… If you were really pro-life, if you were really pro-life, you would want to put every doctor and every mother as an accessory to murder in prison. And you won’t say you wanna do that because you know that because you know that you wouldn’t have a lick of political support. Now, the issue is who … the issue is, you can’t name me anybody presently in politics that did more to introduce policies that reduce the number of real abortions instead of the hot air putting out to tear people up and make votes by dividing America. “This is not your rally. I heard you. That’s another thing you need is a president, somebody who will stick up for individual rights and not be pushed around, and she won’t.”

Clinton’s heated response came after being questioned on his support of abortion-on-demand. Video has been captured of the outburst and will be posted on YouTube. The outburst is also being reported by MSNBC.

I hope this shows some of the people who were misguided by Bill Clinton's fake triangulation tactics during the 1990's to fake out out the social conservatives to vote for him. Just like any other lefty...he is full of hate, and we should never forget that his wife is of the same philosophy as him, although less skilled. She may have to resort to outright theft in order to secure the nomination.

Giuliani Gave to Planned Parenthood (At least 6 times!)

Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani in his campaign appearances this year has stated that he personally abhors abortion, even though he supports keeping a legal right to choose. But records show that in the '90s he contributed money at least six times to Planned Parenthood, one of the country's leading abortion rights groups and its top provider of abortions.

Federal tax returns made public by the former New York mayor show that he and his then-wife, Donna Hanover, made personal donations to national, state and city chapters of Planned Parenthood totaling $900 in 1993, 1994, 1998 and 1999.

Commentary

Buh-Bye! Following the ejection of the annoying Rudybots from Free Republic, this is most welcome news, indeed. It should seal the fate of either Rudy or the GOP. Here is my reasoning on the matter:

This information should keep Rudy from winning the GOP Nomination because of the party plank regarding the sanctity of life. This man has given money to an organization responsible for the slaughter of millions of unborn children. His fake 'discovery' of strict constructionism is as fake as his abhorence to abortion. Almost all his judicial appointments to the judiciary before have been of liberal judges. I don't expect that to change. Should enough be deceived into voting for Rudy, then there will be alot of GOP voters sitting on their hands, or voting as members of another party come November 2008.

Remember November! Remember November 2006..Rudy would be a fine cabinet member, perhaps in DHS, NID, or DoD, but not as the Chief Executive, nor as first in line.
