Muslim terrorist arrested in attempted Times Square bombing

4 May 2010: Faisal SHAHZAD, 30, a Muslim from Pakistan who was recently naturalized as a U.S. citizen, was arrested late Monday night by Customs and Border Protection agents at JFK airport as he attempted to flee the U.S. to his native Pakistan via Dubai. SHAHZAD was placed on the “do-not-fly” list earlier Monday based on information developed during the course of the investigation into the attempted vehicle bombing in Time Square. He was identified as the individual who drove the vehicle into Times Square. Authorities are currently investigating SHAHZAD’s U.S. support network in the New York area, including other possible suspects who have not yet been publicly identified.
According to information provided to this author by New York authorities, SHAZAD lives in Shelton, Connecticut. He became naturalized in April 2009 shortly before traveling back to Pakistan for a five-month period. SHAHZAD is married and reportedly maintains a wife in Pakistan. His activities while in Pakistan allegedly include meetings with at least one Pakistani based Muslim terrorist organization and time spent at terror training camps, based on information provided to this author.
Also according to information provided by a New York official, investigators are looking into SHAHZAD’s U.S. contacts as the probe into Saturday’s bombing attempt widens. “There is no doubt that this was an Islamic inspired, sanctioned and funded attempted terror attack against the citizens of the U.S.,” stated the New York official on the strict condition of anonymity. “There is a concern that more attacks are being planned by individuals in the U.S.as well as in other countries, especially Pakistan,” added this source.

Just for the record, this guy was a naturalized citizen who was living in Connecticut, a registered Democrat and quite possibly a donor to the Obama presidential campaign.
Who would have believed that the terrorist was a Muslim? Or that he had recently spent about 5 months in the Peshawar region of Pakistan, near Taliban strongholds?
The guy certainly fits the profile of a Muslim Terrorist. I wonder how long it will be before the leftist media try to dispel notions that this attack is somehow connected with the desire to engage in jihad?
This is not an isolated case of Sudden Jihad Syndrome.

Car Bombing Attempted in Times Square

Around 6:30 p.m. U.S. Eastern Time, a mounted police officer reported a black Nissan Pathfinder had smoke coming out of it, the reports said.
The vehicle contained propane tanks, powder, gasoline and a clock attached to wires, a Police Department spokesman told The New York Times.
The spokesman told the paper that no one was in custody and the police had no motive as yet. He said the police were checking security cameras, investigating reports that someone had been seen running from the car.

Also, the Northeast Intelligence Network notes that the failed car bomb was parked near the Headquarters of Viacom, the parent company of Comedy Central, which distributes the animated series South Park. South Park generated threats of violence recently for it's satirical depiction of Mohammed in a bear suit. A depiction of which I offer below...

Barack Obama's Day Off and Photoshoot in New York City

What a bunch of idiots!

Read more about the absolute tone-deafness of the Barack Obama Administration:

A jumbo jet being chased by a F-16 fighter jets buzzed Lower Manhattan this morning, panicking New Yorkers, many of whom were forced to evacuate their office buildings.

It was not a terrorist attack, however, but a photo opportunity for Air Force One, sources told the Post.

President Obama was in Washington at the time, but the low-flying 747 circling the Statue of Liberty was one of the planes used as Air Force One, sources said.

The NYPD and the city were notified of the planned flight, but did not share that information with Mayor Bloomberg and other New Yorkers, many of whom said they were terrified.

and...

NEW YORK (Reuters) – One of President Barack Obama's official planes flanked by an Air Force fighter jet flew low over the Statue of Liberty on Monday for a photo opportunity that reminded startled New Yorkers of the September 11 attacks.

The White House Military Office apologized for the mission, which infuriated New York City officials and prompted hundreds of financial professionals to flee their office buildings.

New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg criticized the federal government and his own administration for failing to warn the public, which was shocked by the image of a jumbo jet flanked by an F-16 flying near the World Trade Center site.

"The good news is it was nothing more than an inconsiderate, badly conceived and insensitive photo op with the taxpayers' money," Bloomberg told reporters.

"They should know how sensitive people would be if they had low-flying planes down around the World Trade Center site," said Bloomberg, adding that he was "furious."

Commentary

And notice how everything that happened in the Bush Administration was the President's fault, but nothing in the Obama Administration is the President's fault?

There is your media bias and lefty hypocrisy all rolled into one. It is a big part of why I no longer seek to watch the Main Stream Media newscasts...they are unreliable when it comes to reporting.

Coast Guard Camera Captures Plane Crash

Video of the water landing of US Airways Flight #1549 on the Hudson River has been posted on the Internet, and here it is:

The plane skids in on top of the water at the 2 minutes and 2 seconds mark from the left of the screen, and the camera zooms in and follows the action for the next eight minutes as ferry boats come to the rescue and the plane floats down the Hudson River.

According to the City Room blog, both engines are still missing despite an effort of divers to locate them.

Miracle Landing on the Hudson by Flight 1549

Just wow! What quick thinking by the pilot, the crew and passengers as they reacted to the situation with calm purpose. And kudos to the commercial ferry pilots, crews and passengers as they rendered aid to those on US Airways Flight #1549.

As you undoubtedly already know, an Airbus A.320 crash-landed on the Hudson River yesterday afternoon. Us Airways Flight #1549 took off from La Guardia on a flight to Charlotte, NC.

Reports indicate that several large birds (geese) were sucked into one of the engines and the turbine disintegrated, forcing the pilot [his webpage] to seek a place to put down in a hurry. He chose to put it down in the Hudson River, and warned the passengers to prepare for impact. The Smoking Gun has more on the pilot

There were 150 passengers, 3 Flight Attendants and 2 Pilots on board, and all survived the crash. [Plane Spotter data on plane] [Airliner Gallery]

Immediately after the water landing, every available boat on the Hudson River made for the crash to render assistance to the passengers and crew. People were plucked from the frigid waters and from the wings on the slowly sinking plane.

More information from the Jet Airliner Crash Data Evaluation Centre is in this pdf download.

Here is a video of the plane in the water:

NBC Special Report

The flight left La Guardia at 3.26pm and landed in the water at 3.32pm.

US Airways CEO Doug Parker makes statement regarding flight 1549

TEMPE, AZ - January 15, 2009

US Airways (NYSE: LCC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Doug Parker made a statement regarding flight 1549 this afternoon. Parker spoke at US Airways headquarters in Tempe. His remarks follow:

"Thank you for joining us so quickly. US Airways flight 1549 has been involved in an accident. The Airbus A320 was en route to Charlotte from LaGuardia with 150 passengers onboard. The flight was operated with a crew of 5 (2 pilots and 3 flight attendants). Our preliminary report is that everyone is off the plane.

We have activated our 'US Airways Care' team of specially trained employee volunteers to assist those affected by this accident. Individuals who believe they may have family members on board flight 1549 may call US Airways at 1-800-679-8215 within the United States. This number can be reached toll-free from international locations through AT&T’s USADirect®. To contact an AT&T operator, please visit http://www.usa.att.com/traveler for USADirect® access codes.

Others are asked not to call this number so the lines can be kept available for those who truly need them. It is premature to speculate about the cause of this accident. Out of respect for those affected by these events, we would ask that you, the media, also resist the temptation to speculate.

The National Transportation Safety Board will conduct a thorough investigation to determine the probable cause with our complete support and the support of many others. Further, we are working with and will continue to cooperate fully with the NTSB, local, state and national authorities and answers will emerge in the course of the investigation.

I will be heading to New York shortly. Right now, we're working to care for those who have been touched by this accident. Members of our airline family will come together with these families to help however we can.

In closing, safety is, has been and forever will be our foremost priority. All of us at US Airways are committed to determining the cause of this event and to assist in every way possible in preventing a similar occurrence."

US Airways will continue to release information as it becomes available. Please monitor usairways.com for the latest information.
