Weak high pressure with mostly dry conditions will be replaced through mid week with higher humidity and hotter temperatures. The hottest days will likely be Thursday and Friday. Expect storm chances will also increase through mid-week with the possibility of organized thunderstorms each day during the latter half of the week. • The official hurricane season for the Atlantic basin is from June 1 to November 30, but tropical cyclone activity sometimes occurs before and after these dates, respectively. Based on current COVID-19 trends, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is planning for the federal Public Health Emergency (PHE) for COVID-19, declared under Section 319 of the Public Health Service (PHS) Act, to expire at the end of the day on May 11, 2023. Macon County Public Health will stop publishing weekly COVID updates but will continue to monitor local case levels and trends. In the event that case counts increase significantly, MCPH will notify the public and resume weekly COVID updates.
