Scenes from the Flooding in Macon County on Thursday and Friday, Including a Water Rescue on Cullasaja Circle

Macon County was hit with flooding events back to back this past week and as of 11am on Sunday, September 29, 2024, 5,340 (18.24%) of electric power customers in Macon County remained without service, and most have no landline, cell, or internet service as well. Below are a couple of video montages of the events of Thursday and Friday. Utility crews are working overtime to restore services and emergency personnel are performing welfare checks and marking hazards and outage locations for NCDOT and utulity crews. It will take several days for services to be restored and it could be a week or so in the hardest hit areas of the county. Please be patient.
