The rain is exiting the area and will be clear of the Highlands Plateau in the next few minutes. We'll see if the high winds develop today. So far, Duke nor Haywood are reporting power outages in Macon County.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Macon County Canceled and a hole has opened in the line of storms that are headed toward Franklin.

...Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of Macon, west central Transylvania and southern Jackson Counties through 530 AM EDT...

At 443 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Bryson City to 8 miles northwest of Franklin to 11 miles east of Andrews. Movement was east at 55 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts of 50 to 55 mph.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

Locations impacted include...
Franklin, Highlands, Cashiers, Lake Glenville, Nantahala Lake, Lake Toxaway, Ellijay, Burningtown, Kyle and Tuckasegee.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... Western Macon County in western North Carolina... Central Swain County in western North Carolina... Graham County in western North Carolina...
* Until 445 AM EDT.
* At 343 AM EDT, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 11 miles east of Madisonville to 5 miles southwest of Ducktown, moving east at 65 mph.
 HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts.
 SOURCE...Radar indicated.
 IMPACT...Expect damage to trees and power lines.
* Locations impacted include... Robbinsville, Town Of Santeetlah, Smoky Mountains-Fontana Area, Lake Santeetlah, Fontana Lake, Nantahala Lake, Fontana Village, Smoky Mountains-Twentymile Creek, Smoky Mountains-Clingmans Dome and Wesser.
