GENERAL OUTLOOK
Clouds and moisture will increase with an approaching cold front from the west, bringing rain to our area tonight through early Friday. Dry and cool high pressure will be in control Friday night and Saturday. A stronger low pressure system will cross the region from the west Sunday into Sunday night, bringing moisture back into the area for the latter half of the weekend. Colder air will arrive from the northwest early next week and persist through the middle of the week. The current forecast has Tuesday night being the coldest.

Waynesville-based author and search and rescue team member Nancy East's program will focus on both her book and hiking safety. Don't let the risk of getting lost or bears, blisters, snakes and storms prevent you from enjoying yourself on a hike. Empower yourself with the knowledge and skills to stay 'safe and found' and enjoy your time on trail without hesitation. Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing at this free event co-sponsored by the Nantahala Hiking Club.
The Macon County Public Library’s “Walking with Spring” series in partnership with the Nantahala Hiking Club and the Franklin Appalachian Trail Community Council corresponds with thru-hiker season in Franklin and highlights the A.T.'s hikers and authors, as well as other great outdoor activities and opportunities in the area.

947 – The Later Han is founded by Liu Zhiyuan. He declares himself emperor.
