GENERAL OUTLOOK

Dry weather will linger through theday before a cold front brings widespread rain and some embedded thunder on Thanksgiving Day. Broad high pressure will then spread over the region on Friday, ushering in drier but much colder temperatures through at least the middle of next week. GENERAL FORECAST

..THANKSGIVING DAY...Patchy fog in the morning. Mostly cloudy. Showers likely, mainly in the morning. Highs in the mid 50s. Winds out of the west 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 30 mph. Chance of rain 70 percent.
..THURSDAY NIGHT...Mostly cloudy. A chance of rain showers in the evening. Lows around 30. Winds out of the northwest 5 to 10 mph. Gusts up to 25 mph in the evening. Chance of rain 30 percent.
..FRIDAY...Sunny. Highs in the lower 40s.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER

Hazardous weather is not expected today or tonight.

An unseasonably cold airmass will spread over the area this weekend and linger through early next week. By Monday, high temperatures are expected to only reach the 30s over most of the NC mountains, with lows in the teens. In addition, gusty winds may produce wind chills as low as -5 degrees above roughly 3500 ft on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
