Dry weather will linger through theday before a cold front brings widespread rain and some embedded thunder on Thanksgiving Day. Broad high pressure will then spread over the region on Friday, ushering in drier but much colder temperatures through at least the middle of next week. Hazardous weather is not expected today or tonight.
An unseasonably cold airmass will spread over the area this weekend and linger through early next week. By Monday, high temperatures are expected to only reach the 30s over most of the NC mountains, with lows in the teens. In addition, gusty winds may produce wind chills as low as -5 degrees above roughly 3500 ft on Monday and Tuesday mornings.
