TODAY Foggy and Rainy
Fog is expected in the morning, possibly lasting until early afternoon. Cloudy and rainy. Highs ranging from the lower 50s at the higher elevations to the upper 50s in the lower elevations. Winds from the southeast. 70% chance rain, mainly after 10 am. Rainfall accumulations between a quarter and half an inch is expected. Southeastward facing slopes could receive between three-quarters and an inch of rain.
TONIGHT
Patchy fog expected overnight. Cloudy and rainy. Lows ranging from the lower 40s at the higher elevations to the upper 40s to near 50 in the lower elevations. Winds out of the southeast. 60% chance of rain with rainfall amounts between a tenth and a quarter of an inch expected. Southeastward-facing slopes could see between a quarter to half an inch of rain.
FRIDAY Rain and Thunderstorms
Cloudy with highs ranging from the low to mid-50s at the higher elevations to near 60 in the lower elevations. Winds 5 to 10 mph out of the southeast. Near 100% chance of rain, heavy at times with embedded thunderstorms possible, mainly between 1 pm and 7 pm. Rainfall amounts ranging from half an inch to an inch. Locations that see thunderstorms may receive more rain.
FRIDAY NIGHT Freezing Temperatures Return, Mainly after Midnight
Cloudy and rainy. Lows ranging from the mid-20s at the higher elevations to near 30 in the lower elevations. Winds 5 to 10 mph out of the southwest, shifting to come out of the northwest after midnight. 60% chance of precipitation, mainly in the form of rain. Snow showers are possible after midnight. Little or no accumulation expected.
SATURDAY Possible Snow Showers in the Morning
Cloudy with a Wintry Mix Possible. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing between 11 am and 1 pm with highs ranging from the mid-30s at the higher elevations to near 40 in the lower elevations. 30% chance of precipitation. Snow showers are possible, mainly before noon and rain showers are also possible, mainly between 11 am and 4 pm. Little or snow accumulation expected.
SATURDAY NIGHT Temperatures to Drop Into the Teens
Partly cloudy with lows ranging from near 10 at the higher elevations to the upper teens in the lower elevations.

HAZARDS
Areas of patchy dense fog is expected to form across the region this morning, so please turn on your headlights when commuting so other motorists can see you.
Heavy rain may be possible at times today and tomorrow. Thunderstorms are also possible tomorrow afternoon. Snow showers are possible from midnight Friday night to Noonish on Saturday.

..FRIDAY...Heavy rain possible. Increasing southerly flow of moist air will produce localized 2 to 3 inch rainfall totals by Friday across the eastern side of the southern Appalachians. Although widespread flooding is not expected, very hard ground from the recent cold wave could enhance run off of rainwater and produce rapid stream rises. Gusty winds are likely along the higher terrain as well.
