OUTLOOK

Cool and damp weather will linger as the region remains north of a stationary front. Abundant rainfall returns to the region Friday night ahead of a strong cold front, with the potential for some mountain snow Saturday as colder air moves in behind the front. Expect windy conditions on Saturday and very cold conditions Saturday night.

Possible Wintry Weather, Wind Chill, and High Wind Event This Weekend

Rain will develop tonight ahead of a strong cold front. Once the front passes, temperatures will fall rapidly. This may allow the rain to change over to snow. At least light snow accumulations are possible and travel difficulties could last into Saturday night, especially near the Tennessee border. Strong winds will occur across the area behind the cold front, possibly causing minor tree damage and some power outages. High elevations will experience dangerously cold wind chills at times Saturday afternoon and night.
