GENERAL OUTLOOK
There will be a brief warm up ahead of a cold front which crosses our area on Thursday. After this front passes, expect temperatures to drop first across the mountains then drop across the Piedmont by late in the day Thursday. Temperatures remain well below normal from Thursday night into Saturday. A warmer and wetter pattern is possible by the middle of next week.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER
Freezing rain may develop in the North Carolina mountains tonight, mainly above 3500 feet. Light ice accumulation up to a glaze is possible across the higher elevations.
Lingering gusty winds will allow wind chills to fall into the single digits to a few degrees below zero Thursday evening into early Friday morning across portions of the North Carolina mountains, especially above 3500 feet.

The Macon County Board of Education held a special called meeting on Monday, December 02, 2024, to discuss capital outlays for the 2024-205 fiscal budget year. Macon Media and The Franklin Press were the only outlets present for the meeting, and the board did not stream it.
