Why does North Carolina continue to vote for Republican Preisents, yet continue to vote for Democrats on the state level?

My expectation is that Troxler will be the only Republican elected in these races for multiple reasons...the chief of which is an excrutiating to watch ignorance in how to run a campaign on all levels...from raising money to putting in campaign appearances that are woefully unadvertised. Unless they rebuild their campaigns from the ground up...I expect no change in my assessment.
**update** 2.30PM Civitas has released their August Decision Maker Poll and, to my mind, it serves to confirm my assertion that the candidates and the North Carolina GOP are not getting the message out to voters.
