Fresh from it's recent victory in the invasion of the Republic of Georgia, the Russian Bear looks to whom it may break next.
Seeing the Poles refuse to act like a proper satellite nation of Russia, threats have been issued.
I am proud of the response President George W Bush gave through SecState, Condi Rice:
"When you threaten Poland, you perhaps forget that it is not 1988," Rice said, according to The Associated Press. "It's 2008 and the United States has a ... firm treaty guarantee to defend Poland's territory as if it was the territory of the United States. So it's probably not wise to throw these threats around."Source: ABC News
There is a report from Michael J Totten filed from Tibilisi about the refugee crisis that has resulted from the Russian invasion of that country.
And in the good news (if you can call it that), Danger Room has an article about the poor planning of the Russian Air Forces allowed the Georgians to shoot down at least 10 of their warplanes before the airdefense system broke down.
And Russia's Iranian ally, Ahmadinejad, has called Israel a "germ of corruption" that will be "removed soon". Certainly, he must be pleased with the Russian success in Georgia.
