World War IV Update

Here is an update on some of the recent happenings in the world-wide struggle we are engaged in with radical Islam:

A secret deal between Britain and the notorious al-Mahdi militia prevented British Forces from coming to the aid of their US and Iraqi allies for nearly a week during the battle for Basra this year, The Times has learnt.

Four thousand British troops – including elements of the SAS and an entire mechanised brigade – watched from the sidelines for six days because of an “accommodation” with the Iranian-backed group, according to American and Iraqi officers who took part in the assault.

Aafia Siddiqui (DOB used: March 2, 1972) is an MIT alumna in biology, originally from Pakistan. She went missing in 2003 and has three children. Last month she was captured outside and Afghan government building with documents giving recipes for explosives and chemical weapons. During questioning by FBI agents and U.S. military officers she grabbed a gun and started shooting at the officials. She was shot in the gut by a soldier and started screaming that she wanted to kill Americans.

Siddiqui is a model Al-Qaeda wench.

She was brought to New York this week to face charges.

Karen Hughes, as undersecretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs, funneled millions of dollars in U.S. government grants to radical Islamist organizations, many of whose leaders have been convicted or indicted in terrorism cases in the United States, Steve Emerson told the House International Relations Committee.

In today's Wall Street Journal, John Bolton yet again, emphatically restates the obvious into what has become a lonely echo chamber. And while history will look kindly upon him, the same will not be said of American leadership. It escapes me how Bolton can be so measured and deliberate in the face of such crushing impotence. The facts point to a frightening and fatal future.

Iran pursues its nuclear weapons program with malevolent speed and vigor and as its MO, uses "talks" to stall (and the only ones talking are the perm 5, to themselves). Further, Iran's announcement of a new marine weapon came on the heels of another ignored deadline for an Iranian response to a package of incentives offered by six world powers. Incentives?

More than 375 insurgents and al Qaeda operatives have been captured during the first week of Operation Omens of Prosperity in Diyala province. Six senior al Qaeda in Iraqi leaders in the province have been captured during the province-wide operation.

The Iraqi military announced it captured 265 suspected al Qaeda fighters during operations from July 29 through Aug. 2. Five members of al Qaeda's provincial shura, or executive council, were captured during this timeframe.
