GENERAL OUTLOOK
A warm front lifts north across the area today before a cold front tracks out of the west on Monday. These two systems will act to increase shower and thunderstorm chances, as well as the humidity. Strong to severe storms will be possible each afternoon and evening. Heat indices should climb into the triple digits east of the mountains, especially on Monday. The front looks to stall just south and east of the forecast area Tuesday into Wednesday leading to drier conditions. Shower and thunderstorm chances return for Thursday.

Hazards and Tropical Weather
Isolated to scattered strong storms will be possible across the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia today, with a few possibly becoming severe. The main potential hazard will be damaging wind, and a secondary hazard will be large hail. Localized flash flooding may occur with slower- moving storms and storms that repeatedly track over the same location. Cloud to ground lightning, gusty winds, and heavy downpours will occur with any storms that develop.
Monday will again feature a round of strong convection, some of which will likely become severe, during the late afternoon and evening. Damaging winds will once again be the primary threat, but large hail will be possible as well. Cloud to ground lightning and gusty winds will occur with any storms that develop.

• The official hurricane season for the Atlantic basin is from June 1 to November 30, but tropical cyclone activity sometimes occurs before and after these dates, respectively. The peak of the Atlantic hurricane season is September 10, with most activity occurring between mid-August and mid-October.
