Outlook
A strong low-pressure system will move along the New England coast today as very cold high pressure builds across our area and the wind gradually diminishes late today and tonight. The very cold temperatures will last a couple of nights before milder weather returns in advance of the next low pressure and cold front which will arrive on Wednesday night and Thursday. Expecting very chilly weather next weekend.

Weather Hazards
Use caution through midmorning in locations where roads have frozen while wet due to the possibility of black ice. The NCDOT has been out treating the main roads, but the best practice is to treat all roads as untreated and drive with caution.
Isolated areas of black ice will persist through midmorning. Untreated roads will be slippery in some locations. Caution is advised for anyone planning to travel before noon.
