**UPDATE** NC public schools will reopen for in-person and remote learning -- hybrid Plan B that limits schools to 50% capacity. Local schools can also go to Plan C and do 100% remote learning if they wish and schools must provide a remote learning option for any parent who requests it. The state will also spend another three weeks at Phase II (2).

Gov. Roy Cooper will make an official announcement on the reopening of schools today, after delaying the announcement July 1. Macon Media has three options for watching the announcement live at 3pm today. After the address, the live video players will be replaced with recorded versions.
The governor will address the situation Tuesday at 3 p.m. and present plans for K-12 public schools. The decision will come as North Carolina sees record-high virus hospitalizations and an alarming spike in cases. Cooper is also expected to provide an update on the state’s Executive Order, which ends on Friday, July 17.
Some schools in North Carolina are scheduled to start in July, and officials are asking those schools to conduct remote learning until the decision is made for in-person learning.
