OUTLOOK

A low-pressure system developing near the central Gulf Coast will spread tropical moisture across the region through the first half of the week. The low will exit off the Carolina Coast by early Wednesday, and a more typical summertime pattern will return for the latter half of the week, and into next weekend.

The Town of Franklin hosted a Fireworks Display Saturday night. The fireworks were shot from the Whitmire Property in East Franklin.

Several Christian gathered at Speakers Corner Saturday morning from 10am to 2pm. Macon Media recorded video of a portion of the event and streamed it live to those who were unable to attend due to pandemic restrictions.

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm, then a chance of showers between 9pm and 2am, then a slight chance of rain after 2am. Patchy fog after 10pm. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with lows in the 60s. Calm winds. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday

A chance of rain and thunderstorms, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 2pm. Partly sunny, with highs ranging from the mid-70s in the higher elevations to the mid-80s in the lower elevations. Light winds out of the north. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Wednesday Night

A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 11pm, then a slight chance of showers between 11pm and 3am. Mostly cloudy, with lows in the 60s. Calm winds. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday

Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 3pm. Partly sunny, with highs ranging from the mid-to-upper 70s in the higher elevations to the mid-to-upper 80s in the lower elevations. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Thursday Night

A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Partly cloudy, with lows in the 60s.

Hazards

Tropical moisture has spread across the region and will persist into tonight. Areas of heavy rain may develop across the forecast area, especially along and southeast of the Interstate 85 corridor, leading to localized flash flooding.

Air Quality



Air quality should be in the upper range of Green today for the county.

Through Thursday, a weak area of low pressure will slowly crawl up the Atlantic seaboard, providing both moisture and forcing for showers and thunderstorms through the period - especially in southern and eastern NC. With clouds, a relatively clean air mass, season-to-date ozone trends and the anticipated rainfall over the region expect air quality levels will hold in the Code Green range across the state through the period.

For the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

1. An area of low pressure located inland over central Georgia continues to produce a large area of showers and thunderstorms over portions of the southeastern U.S. This system is expected to move generally northeastward toward the coast of the Carolinas and the mid-Atlantic states later this week. Some development of this system is possible late this week if it moves over water. Regardless of development, the low is forecast to produce locally heavy rainfall that could cause flash flooding across portions of the southeastern U.S. during the next couple of days.
