Partly cloudy skies are expected statewide today with light winds out of the north and isolated thunderstorms possible over the Mountains and Coastal Plain. Otherwise, warm and humid conditions are expected with temperatures rising into the 90s with dewpoints generally in the 60s in the west with 70s possible over the Coastal Plain. This stagnant air mass may allow for ozone readings to pick up into the Code Yellow range from the Foothills east to the Sandhills and interior Coastal Plain, as well as over the ridge tops; Code Green readings will be possible over the coast and the western valleys. Particle pollution readings may also pick up into the Code Yellow range over the southern Foothills, southern Piedmont and Sandhills.

Here are some numbers from the CDC, the NCDHHS, and the Johns Hopkins Dashboard. Macon Media prefers the Johns Hopkins Dashboard because the counts include those non-residents that are left out of the CDC and NCDHHS numbers.
The CDC website [LINK] reports 85,701 people in North Carolina are infected, 1,503 have died, and infections are widespread, the NCDHHS website [LINK] reports 87,528 confirmed cases from 1,220,486 targeted tests, and 1,040 hospitalized and 1,510 deaths in the state.
