The North Carolina Department of Commerce has released the 2018 Tier designations, with Tier 1 being most economically distressed to Tier 3 being least economically distressed. Macon County has been designated as a Tier 1 county for the fourth year in a row after being in Tier 2 in 2014 and years previous. LOCAL OUTLOOK
A cold front will become nearly stationary from northern Florida to the South Carolina coast early this weekend with waves of low pressure moving along the front. With cool high pressure to our north and waves of low pressure to our south, Saturday will be a cloudy and cool day. High pressure pushes the front away from our region with dry and mild weather Sunday and Monday. A stronger cold front will approach from the west by the middle of the week.

...AREAS OF DENSE FOG CONTINUE ACROSS PORTIONS OF THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA...
Areas of fog continue to develop across portions of the western Carolinas and northeast Georgia at this time. This includes the Little Tennessee Valley in North Carolina and the Upper Savannah Valley, including Anderson. Fog may continue to increase in coverage through the overnight hours, and a Dense Fog Advisory may be needed. Visibility has dropped to a half of a mile to a quarter of a mile in locations, and may drop below a quarter of a mile at times. Motorists traveling, especially along I-85 west of Greenville, are urged to use extreme caution.
