.Strong northwesterly cold advection will lead to gusty winds through about daybreak this morning. Then there will be a lull in the winds until early this evening, when westerly winds increase again and persist through tonight across portions of the North Carolina mountains.

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Wind Advisory ABOVE 3500 FEET, which is in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 AM EST Thursday.
* LOCATIONS...The central and southern mountains of western North Carolina above 3500 feet elevation.
* HAZARDS...Strong wind gusts.
* TIMING...Lasting through daybreak this morning. Then winds increase again this evening through tonight.
* WINDS...Northwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph early
this morning. West 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 55 mph.
* IMPACTS...Strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
