LOCAL NEWS
The first major snowfall of the winter season fell Friday and early Saturday, with local accumulations ranging from 6 to 15 inches in most places with a few locations receiving more. As of 4 am, here are the local school closings and delays. There is a possibility some of these may change as school officials assess the road situation this morning. Macon Media will post updates as soon as they are received.

Southwestern Community College: Open at 10 am, except for the Public Traning Safety Center
Over 7,000 Maconians lost power and utility crews from area power companies worked to restore service and answer calls with local fire and rescue services to remove power from dangerous situations like fires, accidents, and situations where lines had fallen onto residences, roadways or had started fires. Electrical services will probably be restored to most Maconians by sometime Tuesday Monday at the latest. Here is a look at the latest numbers:

LOCAL OUTLOOK
High pressure will persist across the region today. However, a strong cold front will approach the region tonight. Mountain snow chances will return Tuesday the cold front moves through the area. Dry high pressure will builds back in Wednesday with temperatures dropping well below normal again, but the temperature should warm back toward normal later in the week.
