Dry high pressure will persist over the region through Wednesday. A cold front will approach the area on Thursday and bring a chance of rain until the front passes early Friday. The front may stall over the lower piedmont into the early part of the weekend, but with dry high pressure likely returning Sunday into Monday.

On January 1, 2017, the Syringe Exchange Program of Franklin began operating a comprehensive harm reduction program to address the opioid epidemic that is impacting western NC. Opioid overdose reversal kits including naloxone are available free of charge.
