Gaza Grad Rockets Made in China

The Grad-model Katyusha rockets that were fired into Beersheba on Wednesday were manufactured in China and smuggled into Gaza after the Sinai border wall was blown up by Hamas in January, defense officials said.


The Chinese rockets have a range of 40 kilometers. They are very similar to the 122 mm Soviet-made Katyusha that was used extensively by Hizbullah during the Second Lebanon War and are slightly more sophisticated than an Iranian-made Grad-model Katyusha that is also in Hamas's arsenal.

The four rockets that hit Beersheba this week were filled with metal balls that can scatter up to 100 meters from the impact site, officials said. These rockets have also been fired into Ashkelon and Ashdod.

The three countries that manufacture Grad-model Katyushas are China, Russia and Bulgaria.

(IsraelNN.com) Magen David Adom was put on its highest state of alert nationwide Wednesday by MDA Israel Director-General Eli Bin. This is the first time that MDA is on top alert throughout Israel, and not just in specific regions.

Several reasons were given for the high alert:

• The growing number of communities under threat of missile attack by Hamas.
• The concern that violence will get worse on Friday, which the Muslims often use for rioting, and that Arab citizens and residents of Israel will take part in riots.
• Specific intelligence warnings regarding terror attacks that are being planned by Arabs in Judea and Samaria and elsewhere.
• The civil New Year’s Day which is often accompanied by drunken driving accidents and violence between celebrants.

Why is it that so many people condemn Israel for defending herself...when they are silent on the atrocities committed by the terrorists...and still call the rockets bottle rockets even after it is revealed that these rockets are military weapons produced in China? These very same rockets are used in groups on military vehicles:

It is criminal that the United Nations even treat the palestinians as honest brokers.
