NCGA Project:
Legislative Calender for January 5, 2009

**10.15am** The meeting is being held in a room that is not transmitting audio to the Internet, so no podcast for you!

Tomorrow, the Joint Legislative Study Commission on Municipal Annexation will be meeting in Rm 643, and it is wired for sound, so I'll be able to get that one for you.

10:00 AM Child Fatality Taskforce - Intentional Death Committee 1228/1327 LB

1:00 PM Child Fatality Taskforce - Perinatal Health Committee 1228/1327 LB

According to the NC General Assembly website, these are the committees meeting today, but when the idiots updated the website...they wiped all the data on committee membership, and where (and if) they've been archived online is anyone's guess. I suppose the old links might still work, but I did not have them bookmarked. (D'oh!)

Anyhow, I will listen if the meetings are held in a room that is wired for Internet webcasting.

I found this history of the Child Fatality Taskforce at the NC Dept of Health and Human Services:

The Child Fatality Task Force was created in 1991 by the General Assembly to study the cause of death in childhood and to develop a system for the multidisciplinary review of child deaths. The impetus for creating the Task Force was to address the problem of child abuse, which is responsible for about 60 deaths in North Carolina each year, but the focus of the Task Force quickly expanded to include the other 97 percent of child deaths as well.

I'll be contacting them to see if they have a membership list, as well as the General Assembly.
