Suspect in Triple Homocide Kills Self During Standoff

ALEXANDER COUNTY, N.C. -- Investigators said a man suspected of killing his wife and two other people triggered a statewide Amber Alert killed himself Friday morning.

Throughout Friday morning, investigators were involved in a standoff with Heatwole. They said he was armed and dangerous. The children were believed to be alive because investigators saw them in the window at one point.

After 6 a.m. Friday, investigators went into the house and found Heatwole had shot and killed himself. The children were physically OK and paramedics checked them out.
