Timothy Johnson, the current chairman of the Buncombe County GOP, is making a full court press for the position of Vice Chair of the North Carolina Republican Party.
Timothy is from Ohio, were he was active in sports and became an Eagle Scout. He attended Miami University in Ohio, joined the US Army as an enlisted man, and rose to the rank of Major during 21 years of service on active and reserve duty, receiving various awards and commendation.
Along the way, he received a PhD and is the President and CEO of
Leadership 101, which specializes " in organizational development, total quality leadership and logic model implementation" for small businesses and non-profit organizations.
And here is a list of some of his community involvement experience and organizations he has been a member of:
US Department of Labor/ETA, Federal Committee on Registered Apprenticeship
YouthBuild USA Directors Council and Support Network
AmeriCorps Alums National Leadership Council
North Carolina Housing Coalition
Big Brother/Big Sisters of Western North Carolina
YMI Cultural Center
Leadership Asheville Program Advisory Council (LA 26 Graduate)
National Eagle Scout Association (Life Member)
Veterans of Foreign Wars (Life Member)
Reserve Officer Association (Life Member)
National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP)
Rotary Club
Master Mason, Scottish Rite and Shriner (Prince Hall Affiliated)
Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc.
I first met him at the Lincoln-Reagan Dinner in 2008, and watched him discover and become involved in conservative social networking beginning last fall as the rest of the Republican Party started to become aware of the online world. He appears to be a fast learner, and very adaptive. I wish other Republicans would do the same.
Now that he has made such a strong start, is there anyone else running for this office? If so, they will have to be playing catch up to this man.
