The above photo [swiped from here at 9am] shows the miserable fate of the WNC Mountains...we'll likely miss any significant snow (unless you happen to be perched on a mountain top).

We've been put under an Winter Weather Advisory anyway, with the lower elevations and eastern parts of the area (like Buncombe County) getting a Winter Storm Warning.

.A STRONG UPPER LEVEL LOW WILL MOVE ACROSS THE DEEP SOUTH AND TO
THE CAROLINA COAST TODAY. THIS SYSTEM WILL SPREAD PRECIPITATION
ACROSS THE WESTERN CAROLINAS AND NORTHEAST GEORGIA...BEGINNING AS
RAIN THIS MORNING...AND THEN CHANGING OVER TO SNOW THIS AFTERNOON
AND EARLY THIS EVENING. THE PRECIPITATION SHOULD MOVE EAST OF THE

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7
AM EST MONDAY. THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.
RAIN AND A WINTRY MIX WILL REDEVELOP ACROSS THE NORTH CAROLINA
MOUNTAINS EARLY THIS MORNING...THEN CHANGE TO PREDOMINATELY SNOW
DURING THE DAY. THE CHANGEOVER SHOULD HAPPEN AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE
3500 FEET BY LATE MORNING...AND FINALLY DOWN TO THE VALLEYS IN THE
AFTERNOON AS THE HEAVIER PRECIPITATION MOVES EAST. AT THE PRESENT
TIME...AN ACCUMULATION OF ONE OR TWO INCHES IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE
REGION TO THE WEST OF A LINE FROM MARSHALL TO WAYNESVILLE AND
BREVARD. AMOUNTS COULD REACH THREE OR FOUR INCHES AT THE TOPS OF
SOME MOUNTAINS.
ADDITIONAL SNOW WILL DEVELOP TONIGHT...BUT IT APPEARS AS THOUGH IT
WILL HAPPEN EAST OF THE MOUNTAINS. IF IT LOOKS LIKE THE SNOW BAND
WILL SET UP ACROSS THE MOUNTAINS...THE ADVISORY MAY BE UPGRADED TO
A WARNING.
A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW
WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW
COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES...AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.
