Dallas Woodhouse visited franklin, NC in October of 2010 and I was there to cover it.


Now comes word that he is stepping aside. I wish him success on the next stage of his life.

AFTER EXTREMELY SUCCESSFUL LEGISLATIVE SESSION, AFP-NC STATE DIRECTOR STEPS ASIDE
Seven year reign saw enormous gains in economic freedom & school choice

RALEIGH, NC –   After one of the most  successful legislative sessions in AFP history,  complete with major tax relief &  reform and major advances in school choice legislation, Americans for Prosperity-North Carolina, State Director Dallas Woodhouse is stepping down to pursue business opportunities in the political arena .

Woodhouse came to AFP in 2006 after a decade in broadcasting and experience with both the U.S.  and N.C. Departments of Agriculture.  He became state director in 2007.

“It has been the honor of a lifetime to work with America’s premier grassroots organization and especially our supporters.  Together we have accomplished much to expand economic freedom in North Carolina including ending forced annexation, lowering taxes, expanding school choice and decreasing government regulation,” said Woodhouse. 

“North Carolina is a better place to live, work and do business because of the work of our activists; and I am proud to have played a part in it. From major tax cuts in 2011 and 2013, removing the cap on charter schools, creation of two broad based school voucher programs and major deregulatory efforts, we have proven the ability to advance a free market agenda with a strong grassroots presence.”

“Dallas and his North Carolina team, along with our activists have been key in helping advance economic freedom in the state," said AFP President Tim Phillips.

 “We wish Dallas well, and our work in North Carolina continues with a strong team in place and a strong chapter. We look forward to working with Dallas closely in his new capacity."

Deputy State Director Chris Farr will lead the chapter as a search for a new state director begins.

Conservative group believes tax reform is the "jobs bill" of the legislative session

RALEIGH, NC – Americans for Prosperity, the state’s leading voice for economic freedom, praised the North Carolina General Assembly and Governor Pat McCrory for passing and signing major tax reform legislation into law. Governor McCrory is signing House Bill 998 – the Tax Simplification and Reduction Act – at a ceremony today at the State Capitol building.

“The taxpayers of North Carolina should be very proud of what has happened here in Raleigh,” said Dallas Woodhouse State Director Americans for Prosperity-North Carolina. “We have leaders at the General Assembly and in Governor McCrory that did what previous administrations were unable or unwilling to do – provide tax relief to North Carolina and reform an antiquated tax code.” 

The new tax reform law reduces and simplifies the 3-tiered state personal income tax from the current maximum rate of 7.75% and minimum rate of 6% to a flat rate of 5.75% in 2015. It also reduces the corporate income tax from 6.9% - the highest rate in the southeast – to 5.75% in 2015 and potentially 3% by 2017. The new law also repeals North Carolina’s estate tax, also known as the “Death tax.”

Woodhouse continued, “Under the old tax code, our personal and corporate income taxes created real ‘sticker shock’ for entrepreneurs and businesses looking to locate in North Carolina. The new tax code makes our state much more attractive to businesses looking to relocate. I believe that this was the jobs bill of this legislative session.

North Carolina’s unemployment rate is currently fifth highest in the nation at 8.8%. Meanwhile the state’s top-tier personal income and corporate tax rates have been the highest in the southeast.

“I think there is definite correlation between our formerly high tax rates and high unemployment in this state. I want to see North Carolina, not only back in the game for jobs, but winning the game. We will have jobs again because we’ve had leaders who decided to make our tax code more friendly to job creators in the real economy,” said Woodhouse.

AFP Launching $5.5 Million Ad Effort

ARLINGTON, VA – Today Americans for Prosperity (AFP), the nation’s largest advocate for economic freedom, announced a multi-state ad effort that demonstrates how badly President Obama is out of touch with the real economy.

“When President Obama said the private sector was doing ‘just fine,’ he surpassed his own bad record of being out of touch with the economic challenges Americans are facing. Our new ad demonstrates just how far removed the president is from the real economy,” said AFP President Tim Phillips. “The fact is the private sector is severely hampered by the specter of rising taxes and new regulations.”

Titled Doing Fine, the new ad begins airing today and will run for ten days in Colorado, Florida, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. Doing Fine calls on President Obama to support the AFP Jobs Agenda, which encompasses a number of policies proven to support a vibrant economy and job creation.

This latest ad effort brings the total amount that AFP has spent educating on President Obama’s disastrous policies to $20 million since last Fall.
In addition to this major ad buy, AFP will be conducting grassroots efforts educating citizens on other big spending politicians who support the Obama agenda, including this ad on Senator Tester, which is currently running throughout Montana and is supported by the Tester Truth Tour.
