Climate Change Resources

This article by AshVegas is so sad. When I saw the report earlier this month that spoke of the cold nature of November 2008...I knew it would go unreported (or unobserved) by those worshipping at the feet of Al Gore.

You can read about how cold November was as I posted about it on December 3rd.

One thing that lefties forget...we are still in a period of relatively high temperatures, and will continue to be until the current downtrend takes us below 50 year averages, then hundred year averages, and perhaps even 500 hundred year averages if the sun doesn't come out of it's current stupor.

Perhaps I am keen on these things because I use Technical Analysis to make money in the stock market by recognizing the onset of trends early on to maximize my profit potential.

Here are some websites that I would like to suggest for those who are honest truth seekers, and not believing the lie that there is such a thing as "Scientific Consensus"...which is merely a euphemism for "Politically Approved Science".

Watts Up With That?

He has a delightful series called "How not to measure temperature" which is currently has 79 posts in that series alone where he (and his intrepid band of readers) reveal sloppy data acquisition methods.


He also has an excellent list of resources in regards to monitoring the climate.

Digital Diatribes

This guy is an excellent number cruncher. He does a monthly temperature analysis and creates many, many, many charts of short term, medium term and long term temperature trends.

The data for November 2008 are analyzed by UAH and RSS.



ICECAP (International Climate and Environmental Change Assessment Project)

This amazing website gathers posts about climate change from all over the globe and put them in one spot for easy access. They also have an excellent stable of experts to draw upon for articles for the website, and their Climate Library is full of interesting reading that could be heretical to those who believe that man is catastrophically warming the earth.

Solar Cycle 24

This amazing website was put together by an Amateur Radio Operator (VE3EN) to monitor solar conditions because conditions on the sun greatly influence radio transmission and reception on the earth.

The website boasts an excellent Message Board that is blessed with some very knowledgeable participants. Of particular interest to those concerned with whether or not the earth is warming or cooling are the sections Solar Cycle 24/Spaceweather that concerns itself with observation and analysis of solar conditions and the Global Warming and Weather Discussions that observe and analyze climate trends and take positions on where the climate trends are going. Hold on to your hat,because it get get rough sometimes!

The Resource Links are also required reading.

Al Fin is a science and technology blogger who keeps an eye on the climate. Although not so much lately, perhaps because there are many more people paying attention to it than used to. He was one of the first that I relied upon as a resource, and his sidebar is crammed full of the finest science resources.

NC Media Watch

Russ Steele has a good eye for good articles on climate change.

There are more resources and blogs out there, and the number is growing as the evidence of a new cooling trend accumulates. If there are resources that I have grievously overlooked or excluded, leave a comment and I'll probably include them, especially given the predilection for Legacy Media outlets and lefty bloggers to ignore and/or belittle them. I look forward to the day when they can no longer deny that the sun has far more of an effect on our climate than humans do.

Strategy Page Updates Military Forces Database

One of my favorite online military news resources, Strategy Page, has updated their online military forces database. Here are a few snippets of their observations:

European Nations are still dominated by Russia. Despite the sharp (about 80 percent) decline in the Russian military in the 1990s, this still left them with the most powerful combat force in Europe. That's largely because most European also cut their military spending, and manpower, in the 1990s. Russia is much less of a military threat to Europe, than it was during the Cold War, because their ground forces now largely consist of paramilitary troops, and army combat units that are no longer trained for offensive warfare. Russia can still invade neighbors, as it recently did in Georgia, but that was done with one mechanized infantry division, and another division worth of local militias and paramilitary troops.

Middle East Nations are still dominated by Israel. The third ranking nation, Iran, is powerful more because of the large number of men in uniform. Their weapons and equipment are in poor shape and largely obsolete. Because of Israel's dominating land combat power, many Middle Eastern nations spend a lot of money on ballistic missiles. These would be the only weapons they would have a chance of doing any damage to Israel with.

American Nations are still dominated by the United States. Because of decades of combat, and recent upgrades in training and equipment, the number two power is Colombia. Brazil is close behind, because it is the largest nation in South America, and has a large and well equipped military.
East Asian Nations are, as usual, dominated by China. But number two is South Korea, which has greatly increased its combat power over the last two decades, as its booming economy enabled it to equip the troops with the most modern weapons. Meanwhile, it's nemesis for the past half century, North Korea, has declined because of a collapsing economy and inept communist dictatorship.

African Nations have a strange lineup. The two top military powers, Ethiopia and Eritrea, have been at war with neighboring Eritrea for a decade. There has been a ceasefire for the last eight years, but not a demobilization. The number three power is South Africa, which is the best equipped, trained and led on the continent.

South Asian Nations are, as always, dominated by India. Pakistan is a distant second.

The Combating Terrorism Center at West Point has an excellent resource for those wishing to find out more about just who we are fighting in the Global War on Terror.

It is available as an Executive Summary [Link to PDF 991kB and 23 pages] and as a hefty Research Compendium [Link to PDF 4,918 kB and 361 pages].

SUMMARY

The Militant Ideology Atlas identifies the most influential thinkers in the Jihadi Movement (see appendices) and delineates the movement’s key ideological vulnerabilities. It situates the Jihadi Movement within the various Muslim constituencies that Jihadi leaders seek to influence and persuade.

These constituencies can be envisioned as a series of nesting circles (Diagram 1:Jihadi Constituencies). Each constituency is responsive to leaders in the broader constituencies of which it is a part, but each also has its own set of thinkers that are best positioned to influence their base.

The largest constituency is comprised of Muslims, people who follow the Qur’an and the example of Muhammad. This includes Sunnis (people who follow the example of the Prophet) and Shi`a is (people who follow the example of the Prophet and his descendents through his son-in-law Ali), and ranges from secularists to fundamentalists. This constituency is much too broad to identify one or two individuals who shape opinion across the broad spectrum of Muslims.

I hope many of you download and read this study and realize the utter shallowness of the anti-war crowd in facing up to reality and the goals of the Islamofascists who are dedicated to the removal of our civilization from the earth.

And to the lefties out there who would critique my position, try reading the thing instead of falling back on lefty talking points.
