New Library Card Option Empowers Parents

PRESS RELEASE (04-23-2025
MACON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY

Starting May 1st Fontana Regional Library will be offering a new Library Card option for parents with kids 15 and under. This new card designation, which parents can choose for existing or brand new library cards, only allows for library books and materials within the children's department to be checked out. Because this restricted card option will not allow for items outside the children's area to be checked out, if a parent wants their child to have access to any items outside the children's area they will have to check out those items using their own full-access library cards.

Fontana Regional Library's policies reinforce the role and choices of parents in their child's reading and development. Library cards are issued with parental consent, and every location enforces the Safe Child Policy, which requires that children under the age of 12 have a parent or caregiver with them. The Juvenile Limited Card is another tool that parents can utilize if they wish. Parents who would like to change their child's card over to the Juvenile Limited Card can visit any FRL Circulation Desk and complete the quick and easy process. If parents do not want to change their children's current access to borrow materials, then no action is necessary.

For more information please see the Circulation Policy at fontanalib.org/about-us#policies or visit any Fontana Regional Library location.

Franklin Tourism Development Authority 05-13-2013

Franklin TDA 05-13-2013

The Franklin Tourism Development Authority met last night and the video above is of that meeting. The agenda has been posted below for your convenience.

REGARDING THE NEW TDA INTRO/OUTRO MATERIAL

I left a camera running in the town hall so I could could catch this meeting while I was across town recording the Board of Education meeting [see video of that here]. You'll notice the beginning of the video why I feel it was necessary to leave a babysitter for the camera. I've had unattended cameras mysteriously shut down in the town hall before while I was attempting to cover other meetings at the same time and even when I take a simple trip to the restroom during a meeting.

I am grateful that Brittney Burn of the Macon County News agreed to watch the camera for me while I was filming the Board of Education meeting. She was able to make sure that the camera recorded the meeting without molestation by elected or appointed government officials.

I almost always run the camera (as well as audio recorders, which are always on when I am in a meeting room) for several minutes prior to all meetings and have never before before encountered a situation from this guy wanting me to shut down my camera and had always suspected that someone else of shutting down my cameras in the town hall. Now, I'm not so sure.

At any rate, the little piece of video will make a nice addition to a montage of public officials telling me to shut the camera off or making unkind gestures or comments about it's presence during meetings. LOL

WWNC-AM: Stories of Malia Obama's spring break trip to Mexico disappearing from the web

(Erica Ritz) -- Have you heard that Malia Obama, the president’s daughter, is reportedly spending her spring break in Oaxaca, Mexico? Allegedly, she’s jetting off with some of her classmates and 25 Secret Service agents to a country that the State Department has said all Americans should avoid. But something is different about the latest “Obama vacation controversy:” references to it are disappearing from the Internet — and fast.

Source: WWNC-AM

I'm posting this mainly as a test to see if I get a request to pull the story or if it gets pulled for me by Blogger.

The media did not the Bush daughters any privacy when they went places, so I'm giving the media a bit of of their own medicine.

**10.17am** I've found an article on Politico [link] that addresses the situation:

A spokesperson at the White House did not immediately respond to a request for comment, though given the late hour that can be forgiven. I will update here if and when I hear back from the White House, and when I hear back from spokespeople with the various websites and news agencies.
UPDATE: Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the First Lady, emails to confirm this was a White House effort:
From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.

More questions on the origins of Facebook

Facebook is Evil

I'm posting this mainly because Facebook seems to have blocked attempts for me to post a link to an article that might be construed as detrimental to Mark Zuckerberg on Facebook, so I'm using my blog post as a manual re-direct to get around the Facebook block. Here is a portion of the article:

The case is the latest challenge to the origins of Facebook, which is worth $24.6 billion, according to SharesPost.com, a marketplace for closely held firms. Facebook’s paternity was questioned in a suit by a group of Zuckerberg’s former Harvard University schoolmates, who claimed he used code developed on their ConnectU project to start Facebook. They settled in 2008.

Today’s hearing was for Arcara to consider a request by Facebook to dissolve a temporary injunction, issued by a state court judge June 30, preventing the company from transferring assets. The parties resolved the issue by agreeing to let the injunction expire July 23. Arcara extended an order staying the injunction until then, which means it will have no effect.

The parties, appearing before Arcara for the first time in the case, also provided new details of their clients’ stories in response to questions from the judge.

“Mr. Zuckerberg did have a contract with Mr. Ceglia,” Simpson said. Zuckerberg, 26, worked for Ceglia as a computer coder, she said.

Facebook claims Ceglia remained silent for more than six years and his claim is probably too old to pursue. Also, Ceglia claims his alleged contract, which refers to “The Face Book,” was signed about nine months before Facebook was founded, the company said in court papers.

Today in court, Ceglia’s attorney, Terrence Connors, produced a copy of the two-page “work for hire” contract that his client said entitles him to control of the social-networking service.

Best "Downfall" Parody Yet!!!

It was too good to be true. Lots of people had fun making "Downfall" parodies. Now the producer of the "Downfall" film has gotten his panties in a wad. Bear witness:

Hitler, as "Downfall producer" orders a DMCA takedown from Brad Templeton on Vimeo.
Full details at http://ideas.4brad.com/hitler-tries-dmca-takedown - There are hundreds of parodies of this "Downfall" clip. The studio, Constantin Films, has ordered takedowns of some of them, and eventually even had this parody removed from YouTube. In this clip, Hitler is the producer, and his lawyers tell him why he can't do a DMCA takedown and how the EFF could stop him. He desperately searches for other ways to protect the movie.

Made by Brad Templeton, an EFF board member (but releasing the video on his own.) This video educates about intellectual property issues and parodies the actions of the studio using the very clip they are censoring.

US Senate Sgt-At-Arms Bans Staffers and Senators from Reading the Drudge Report in the US Senate!!!

Talk about only having "approved sources of information". It looks like the Obamites will stop at nothing to be able to control the flow of data!!!!  Read on...

In the very body sworn to protect and defend the Constitution, an e-mail is circulating warning U.S. Senate staffers not to view one of the most popular news sites on the Web, claiming it could spread computer viruses.

The Senate Sergeant-at-Arms, the chamber's official gatekeeper, said the Drudge Report, a news aggregator, and whitepages.com, a telephone directory site, "are responsible for the many viruses popping up throughout the Senate," according to an e-mail from the Environment and Public Works Committee obtained by FoxNews.com.

Another e-mail from a separate office warned that staffers who had visited the Drudge Report or White Pages had experienced viruses on their PCs.

"Please avoid using these sites until the Senate resolves this issue," the e-mail read. "The Senate has been swamped the last couples (sic) days with this issue."

But the Drudge Report suggested that politics might be behind the warning, noting in an original story that the e-mail came as the "health care drama in the Capitol reaches a grand finale."

The Drudge Report noted that it served more than 29 million pages Monday without an e-mail complaint about "'pop ups,' or the site serving 'viruses.'"

"The site was seen 149,967 times since March 1st from users at senate.gov and 244,347 times at house.gov. [10,825 visits from the White House, eop.gov]" the Drudge Report wrote.

Source: Fox News
Hat Tip: The Drudge Report (where else?)

I've been reading the website for over ten years and have never gotten a virus from it. I think that either this is politically motivated or the Sgt-At-Arms is a moron when it comes to computer viruses.

Chicagoans For Rio 2016

Graphic Courtesy Chicagoans for Rio 2016

In response to the heavy-handed and thuggish tactics of the Chicago Olympic Committee, I am throwing my support behind Chigagoans who support Rio as the site of the 2016 Olympics.

According to The Drudge Report, the Chicago Olympic Committee succeeded in getting the following report pulled from FOX TV in Chicago after airing only once...and ironically guaranteeing that even more people would see the video report...

Visit the Chicagoans for Rio website to find out more of the dark side of hosting an Olympic Games.

Shame on the thugs at the Chicago Olympic Committee for their criminal attempt to control what news is reported.

An Open Letter to the David Letterman Haters

This is addressed to all those who called for the firing of David Letterman:

The "conservatives" (and I use that term very loosely) who are calling for the firing of David Letterman for his hateful joke about Sara Palin's daughter are bastards. Bastards in the sense that you are the illegitimate children of the American concept of free speech.

Your response to David Letterman is worse than what he did.

Your response smells like fascism to me. It smells like the gases escaping the crematoria of Nazi Germany. It smells like a speech code on a college campus. It smells like forcing a woman to wear a burqa.

It smells like the iron fist of tyranny wearing the clothes of righteous indignation.

David Letterman has a right to say what he said.

I do not agree with what he said. I do, however, assert that he has a right to say it, and I will defend that right with everything that I am, with every tool at my disposal.

Shame on you.

We have something called free speech in America.

You people need to think before you oppress other people. Repent of your evil and think a little about what you are advocating. You are acting just exactly like the progressive statists.

Thank You for your time.

CNN Gets Butt Kicked By People on Twitter

OK, so last night something else really weird happened.

My friend Luke Kilpatrick (he lives a couple of blocks away from me) invited me down to the Ritz at about 9 p.m. tonight. He met up there with a couple of geeks. While there he introduced me to Philip Kaplan (the guy who started AdBrite and Fucked Company), Scott Raymond, and Rachel Luxemberg, who is a community manager at Adobe.

It was dark, so I couldn’t see who else was there around the fire ring out back.

Anyway, I was pretty passionate about this CNN story, since every hour we had been turning through the channels trying to learn about Iranian news (my wife is Iranian and hadn’t been able to call her relatives in Tehran). So I was telling Luke about how Twitter was totally kicking ass over CNN (CNN, when I kept turning it on, had nothing on and, instead was playing shows like Larry King Live with a couple of guys who build motorcycles).

That’s when I heard a voice say “what are you saying about Twitter?” I looked up and it’s Evan Williams, founder/CEO of Twitter. Oh, hi!

Anyway, I congratulated him on kicking USA’s media’s behind (CNN wasn’t the only one who wasn’t covering the Iranian protests). We talked about a variety of things, including family (he has a kid on the way, his wife was there too) and the future of Twitter.

Commentary

With the advent of new Internet messaging systems, specifically Twitter, the Gate Keepers in the Media no longer have a monopoly on what gets reported, and what they can choose to ignore.

I look forward to the day when the first thought of most people who are looking for infomation on a breaking news event will turn to Twitter, Friend Feed and other platforms before they even think about turning on the TV Set or picking up a newspaper.

Another example is the NCGOP 2009 Convention this weekend. For those who wanted to know what was going on, Twitter was the place to be if one wanted to know. It also had the advantage of allowing people to comment on the event and to also engage in a little back and forth commentary and good-natured jabs at each other. At least on my part (o_0)

Presented In Honor of Geert Wilders
Fitna: The Movie

Geert Wilders has been invited to present his movie Fitna to the British Parliament. Lefties and Islamists have banded together (since they share the common goal of destroying the West) to try to prevent that.

According to Pamella, he has been arrested and refused entry to Britain. Gateway Pundit is also following this story of Britain acting to appease the murderous mob within her gates. The Gates of Vienna is monitoring the Dutch websites.

Will the last Westerner to leave England please turn out the lights?

Here is the movie that has gotten Wilders banned from Britain:

Rush Limbaugh Fills GOP's Leadership Void;
Obama Knows It, As Do Conservatives: Let's Make It Official

Brian Maloney, of Radio Equalizer, has an interesting piece on the emerging war of words that President Obama has launched on the chief proponent of conservatism in America today, radio host, Rush Limbaugh.

Why should President Obama single out Rush Limbaugh as Public Enemy Number One of his administration?

Because there is no coherent leadership in the current crop of elected US Senate or US House of Representatives. Nor, sadly enough, in the RNC Leadership as currently elected.

Rush Limbaugh also has more influence on the conservative base of the Republican party through his consistent expounding of conservative principles for three hours every weekday on the radio with his entertaining and informative show.

President Obama has, in my opinion, made a profound error by identifying Rush Limbaugh as his chief opponent, because now conservatives have someone that they can rally around. And Rush has shown himself more than capable of picking up the mantle of philosophical leadership of the conservative movement.

Also, we have an easy way of identifying the traitors in the midst of the conservative movement. These are the people who attempt to put forth the claim that Rush is  not a conservative, most commonly they are moderate and liberal Republicans, and lefty Ron Paul supporters who can't understand the concept of American Exceptionalism as expounded nearly daily by Rush Limbaugh from behing the EIB micrphone.

I usually listen to Rush Limbaugh on the web stream of WPGB-FM out of Pittsburgh because I cannot hear him over the air in Macon and Jackson County, and I wish to avoid the beyond annoying commercials of the closest radio station out of Asheville, NC (WWNC-AM).

Anyhow, here is the opening segment of the second hour of yesterday's show that demonstrates why Rush Limbaugh excites conservatives...and causes fits of madness in liberals in the Democrat and the Republican party:

Homofascism in California

The people have spoken in California on preserving marriage as being between one man and one woman. Of course, the homofascists refuse to acknowledge the will of the people or even display a modicum of civility.

Witness the hate-filled lefties for yourself:

Read the story connected to this display of typical behavior from homosexual advocates.

Are there no men left in California who could have defended that woman?

Is California completely wussified?

A Glimpse of Inquisition

An excerpt from inside a script conference in Hollywood:

We're all on the same page, script-wise. I'm thinking: this is fab-u-lous, we're gonna make an excellent movie.

I'm also gripped with a huge sense of relief because the meeting did not include the standard and obligatory George Bush-is-worse-than-Hitler pre-meeting chat.

Yup, it's all smooth and professional — until the meeting devolves into sheer lunacy.

“Okay,” announces the senior studio executive, “I just want to make sure that everyone in this room is voting for Obama.”

To the left of me a junior executive goes: “Well, sure, of course.”

To the right of me another executive nods his head up and down like a bobble and mutters: “We need Obama so badly.”

Let's be honest, folks: I can just grunt in the affirmative and be done with the whole wretched ambush.

“Robert?”

The studio exec is smiling, all charm and fuzzy-wuzzy, but his eyes betray confusion. I mean, Hollywood is in the tank for Obama, all except for a handful of out-of-the closet Republicans and even more who dare not voice their conservative beliefs for fear of being blacklisted. This is not paranoia, It's just the way it is for Hollywood Republicans swimming in an ocean of liberals.

“Earth to Robert?”

All eyes are on me. My colleagues are shifting uncomfortably in their super-comfy leather chairs.

Everyone in Hollywood takes it for granted that if you work in Hollywood you are a Democrat. Hollywood people, whose job it is to imagine stuff, find it hard, if not impossible, to imagine a Republican in their midst.

I feel like a Marrano, a secret Jew, unveiled before the Inquisition.

As someone who is daily on a college campus daily, I can affirm that lefties do not tolerate political diversity if it is of a conservative nature if they are in control (or think they are).

Obama's Fascist Thugs Versus Joe The Plumber

Last weekend, Senator Obama showed up in Joe’s driveway to ask for his vote, and Joe asked Senator Obama a tough question. I’m glad he did; I think Senator Obama could use a few more tough questions.

The response from Senator Obama and his campaign yesterday was to attack Joe. People are digging through his personal life and he has TV crews camped out in front of his house. He didn’t ask for Senator Obama to come to his house. He wasn’t recruited or prompted by our campaign. He just asked a question. And Americans ought to be able to ask Senator Obama tough questions without being smeared and targeted with political attacks.

Neptunus Lex quotes the old Japanese saying: “The nail that sticks up gets hammered down.” Today’s “progressives” want very much to hammer down nails in America.

Here’s what I think is going on: Over the last 20 years, too many of America’s universities have become places in which conformity is at a premium and genuinely independent thought is discouraged–”islands of repression in a sea of freedom,” as someone put it. It was inevitable that the spirit of repression inculcated in the universities would begin to poison the larger society, and that is now happening.

Here’s an item which I think is related: It’s been reported that at a (rare, small) McCain rally in NYC, somebody grabbed a McCain sign and beat up the woman carrying it. Beat her up physically, not metaphorically. [court record]

Commentary

Sure, the use of fascist is incendiary. It is meant to be so. Step back and imagine that Obama is a nascent Hitler with no teeth of his own. Someone dares challenge him or his precepts, and even the Legacy Media join in the hunt to discredit the poor guy, or to beat a woman for carrying a McCain sign.

This also has the effect of "chilling" future challenges to the anointed leader of the progressive movement. No private citizen wants their life gone over with a fine tooth comb. When and if the Left gets in power, they won't need the NSA to find out things about your life...they'll just use the Legacy Media to spy on you, and deliver up a dossier on your activities so your life can be ruined for daring to be noticed.

This exposes a very dangerous side to the personage of Obama, and those around him...they will seek to destroy you if they perceive you as a threat. Note that they go after the person opposing them immediately...not the message...their first impulse is to destroy the person and to dig through their life until the find "dirt" that they hope will discredit whatever that person has said that they disagree with...or to simply take their sign and beat them about the head and neck with it.

Remember that when you cast your ballot.

Barack Obama: Hugo Chavez Rising?

DENVER -- Police in Denver arrested an ABC News producer today as he and a camera crew were attempting to take pictures on a public sidewalk of Democratic senators and VIP donors leaving a private meeting at the Brown Palace Hotel.
Police on the scene refused to tell ABC lawyers the charges against the producer, Asa Eslocker, who works with the ABC News investigative unit.

A cigar-smoking Denver police sergeant, accompanied by a team of five other officers, first put his hands on Eslocker's neck, then twisted the producer's arm behind him to put on handcuffs.
A police official later told lawyers for ABC News that Eslocker is being charged with trespass, interference, and failure to follow a lawful order. He also said the arrest followed a signed complaint from the Brown Palace Hotel.
It was two hours later when Denver police arrived to place Eslocker under arrest, apparently based on a complaint from the Brown Palace Hotel, a central location for Democratic officials.
During the arrest, one of the officers can be heard saying to Eslocker, "You're lucky I didn't knock the f..k out of you."

Obama's Gaffe: Making Ayers Main Stream News

American Issues Project Website

The conservative blogosphere is agog: what was Barack Obama thinking? He took a story largely confined to the internet, (only briefly raised in the primary) about Obama’s connection to former terrorist Bill Ayers, put it in his own ad, and then filed a claim trying to force the third-party 527 ad that first brought up the Obama-Ayers connection off the air. In the next 24 hours thousands if not millions of voters who never heard of or didn’t understand the extent of the Obama-Ayers relationship are going to get a full education.

Source: Contentions

Remember that Obama's friend William Ayers was unrepentant about his crimes...even in an interview published on the morning of September 11, 2001:

On September 11, 2001, A Story About William Ayers' Memoir Was Published In The New York Times; The Interview Occurred Prior To Publication. "'I don't regret setting bombs,' Bill Ayers said. 'I feel we didn't do enough.’ Mr. Ayers, who spent the 1970's as a fugitive in the Weather Underground, was sitting in the kitchen of his big turn-of-the-19th-century stone house in the Hyde Park district of Chicago." Democratic Brownshirts Attack News Crew

Do you see Republicans acting like this towards MSNBC (DNC-TV)?

Why do these Democrats act like this? Because they have no concept of what free speech is. The only speech they want to see is that which they agree with...and are very intolerant toward any one that opposes their political world view.

The practice a kind of political censorship.
