An additional death due to Helene was reported in Macon County via Asheville Watchdog, bringing the total known local deaths due to Helene to two people:
• A 68 year old male was reported in Macon County on 10/4/24 after passing from hypothermia due to environmental exposure, no additional details at this time.
• A 75 year old male died in Macon County and was recovered on 9/28/24 after his truck drove into a flooded road.
