Obama also faces the reality of needing at least one Republican senator to join him to break filibusters. Many speculate that three moderate Republicans will provide the necessary Senate votes and the imprimatur of bipartisanship.
Still, Obama and the GOP moderates will not produce the kind of post-partisan harmony that Obama promised and the public now expects.
But I believe Obama has an ace in the hole among Senate Republicans. This unlikely ace can deliver not only the GOP moderates needed to break a filibuster, but also the stamp of bipartisanship: the 2008 GOP standard bearer, John McCain.
McCain was once the mainstream media darling, back when he joined Democrats on a host of issues. He prized his maverick moniker and used it to propel himself onto the national scene in the 2000 Republican presidential primary. Early in the Bush years, he shored up his status as the media's favorite Republican by opposing Bush on taxes and the environment.
But this love fest came to a halt when McCain became the front-runner for the GOP nomination. First he began to sound more like a conservative by altering his stands on immigration, the environment and taxes. Then he named Sarah Palin his running mate. It was too much for a media that had fallen head over heels for Obama. The media had a new darling.
In McCain's mind, however, losing the presidency will not be the final chapter of his life story. He knows the path to "Big Media" redemption. Working with the man who vanquished him in November will show them all the real McCain again.

I had better not comment on this story, except to say that I blame the Republican Parties in the early primary states for giving us John McCain as our nominee by holding open primaries where people who are not registered Republicans get to choose the nominee of the Republican Party.
This has got to stop, or why have a party and a platform that is distinct from any other?
Let's be honest: we didn't vote for the Barack Obama his campaign advertised. We didn't vote for an African-American man, nor for a US senator from Illinois, nor for a father, a husband, an activist, or a young politician.
We voted for the Barack Obama we fantasized — the progressive miracle worker. We voted for Change.
Millions of us stood up and shouted, handed out fliers, talked to our neighbors, donated hard-earned money, and drove people to the polls for Change. We screamed, hugged, kissed, and cried when we learned Change had come to America. We knew Change wouldn't come overnight, that it would take time, but we were excited that we had elected a man who was open to Change, who said he wanted to consider real people's needs while in the Oval Office. We eagerly awaited the first hints of Change, as the president-elect's transition developed.
And now, we have reason to worry that Change is not coming to America after all. For nearly two years we were encouraged to "Be the Change you want to see in America." It is now obvious that we have a ways to go toward Being that Change. And so does President-elect Barack Obama. And that, above all else, needs to Change.
It was not the Democratic base, nor the centrists, nor even the center-left, who put Obama where he is today. The progressive movement rose from near death and kept Obama alive in the primary, eventually proving stubborn enough to carry him to victory over the Establishment candidate. And then, in the general election, it was the progressives whose energy infected the nation, whose enthusiasm reminded longtime vote-the-ticket Dems that elections were about the future, and whose contributions, tiny as each individual one was, funded the revolution of Change that swept Obama into the Oval Office.

The United States Supreme Court, guarantor of our Constitution, gave Barack Obama until December 1st to respond to allegations that he has not provided certification of his eligibility to run for President by being a natural born citizen. That date came and went with no response from Obama. Not, mind you, merely a lack of sufficient evidence but no response at all. Source.
As a consequence, the court has no choice but to issue a bench warrant for his arrest, charging him with contempt of court. Further, because he refused to provide the Constitutional proofs, the Court can- and must- rule him ineligable and declare all General Election and Primary votes for him to be invalid.
December 5, 2008 - The time period for Barack Obama to respond to the U.S. Supreme Court lawsuit expired on December 1, 2008. The Supreme Court has been silent as of this date. It appears the U.S. Supreme Court will not uphold the Constitution. America is truly in danger when the U.S. Supreme Court Justices refuse to perform their sworn duty. The news media will not even report on this important event. Our congressional leaders are also remaining silent. The financial crisis has been brought about by those seeking more power. Tear America down, and then create the New America controlled by the elite. It appears America has fallen without a shot being fired.
