Fake Republicans Against Burr Blog

A socialist troll has been running a blog since March, posting drivel against Republicans in general, and US Senator Richard Burr in particular on a blog called "Republicans Against Burr".

I call this person out as a fake Republican and a fake blogger. There is very little in the way of Republican philosophy on the blog and have noted that all the photos are hot-linked from other people's photobucket accounts without proper attribution. That is not cool, nor is it ethical behavior.

The "blogger" also has at least one other blog called "Eye No Stuff" that seems to be composed mainly of rants and financial links spiced with stolen photos.

And I will leave you with an excerpt of one of his posts that could have been written by a faithful member of the Communist Party, or a Progressive in the Democratic Party, and NOT from someone registered as a Republican:

Those who have the wealth should pay the most for the privilege of living in a society that allowed them to build the wealth. And the wealth concentration in our country is simply out of control. Think long and hard about what I am going to type next:

1. Less than 1% of Americans control over 34% of our nation's wealth.
2. The top 10% of Americans control 71% of our nation's wealth.
3. The bottom 40% control less than 1% of our nation's wealth.

And these were 2004 stats. It's probably worse now. Shocking! Absolutely shocking! But when put into the context of Ari's opinion piece, it makes Ari and the Republican party machine look foolish for whining about the wealthy having to pay taxes.

Those who can afford to pay should pay. They got wealthy on the back on all the institutions provided by our government. And when the top 10% of Americans control almost 75% of our nation's wealth, I would think they'd be grateful. They should keep their mouths shut about having to pay income tax. Pay it, and be grateful to live in America.

So, in the coming 2010 election cycle, pay attention to the philosophies of people who are urging you to vote for or against a particular person and/or party to see how well they line up with your own philosophy.

The blogger in question may actually be a registered Republican, but their philosophy is closer to a communist type of socialism than anything else.

WNC Homes Demands Mental Health Blogger Remove Content

Here is the story from the blogger in a nutshell:

Today I was asked by WNC Homes, a Family Care Home in western NC----scratch that-----today I was DEMANDED to remove IMMEDIATELY from my blog any reference to WNC Homes as I sat in the DSS Buncombe meeting in order to 'resolve' some 'misunderstandings' about why I believe I have a right to see my clients at their residences in their Family Care Home.

WNC Homes called the Buncombe County sheriff on me three weeks ago because I refused to stop having therapy w/ my client in the client's residence. That action created a sheriff's report. Jeff Clifton of WNC Family Homes told me to NEVER come back on 'his' property (I mean the property that is completely supported by the social security check payments of the disabled people who live there some of whom are my clients).

That means that WNC Homes has created a 'public' incident. And that means that you, Jeff Clifton, are now a public figure.

NAH. I'm not taking off anything.

And since you're reading this, Jeff Clifton of WNC Homes, know that I figured out that you intercepted the letter that I sent to my client who complained and complained that he never received it. Can you say MAIL FRAUD? Can you imagine HIPAA VIOLATION? The dead giveaway was in the Release of Information form that you included in your 'packet' you handed out at DSS today: the release of information had ONLY the name of the legal firm to whom the information was intended.

I suggest you back far, far away from me.

I think that Jeff Clifton, of WNC Homes, has bitten off more than he can chew in taking the steps as reported by Marsha. He should be aware that I will do my part in publicizing his behavior, as should more bloggers.


I've had people forbid me to blog about them before (all were Republicans to date), and I have yet to comply with any of their demands, and I urge Marsha to do the same.

Rick Santelli’s “Barbaric Yawp” over the rooftops of Washington

Rick Santelli ranted about the Socialism for America Act recently passed through Congress on CNBC recently, and that rant has been used to rally the troops around the nation to wake Americans up to the crime being perpetrated on them and the next two or three generations by the Obama Administration and the Democrats as they attempt to destroy Capitalism.

Texas Judge Takes on Topix Trolls

A Texas judge has ordered an online news site to unveil identifying details about 178 anonymous commenters on the site. The order came after a couple, Mark and Rhonda Lesher, sued the numerous anonymous commenters posting to Topix.com for making what they considered to be "perverted, sick, vile, inhumane accusations" about them.

The Leshers were originally thrust into the Texas spotlight in 2008 after being accused of sexually assaulting an unidentified former client of Mark Lesher. That's when thousands of comments began piling up on the community news aggregator Topix to discuss the sexual assault charges. As with most things on the Internet, many Topix users felt free to let loose with nasty comments about the Leshers.

Exposing Truther Lies

One of the blogs I follow is called Ft Hard Knox, and has a too infrequent series called Exposing Truther Lies, and just today has posted the fourth in the series, and here is an excerpt:

Lie number 10 is that the towers never reached full occupancy ( reference).

As we see here, as of February of 2001, the WTC occupancy rate was 98%- and in January of 1997, Real-Estate Director Cherrie Nanning stated that 97 % occupancy would be considered full occupancy.

Lie number 11 is the “truther” claim that photos and videos of the bowed columns were a result of light refraction ( source ).

As usual. “truthers” ignore the basic laws of physics. Here are the real facts: 1)  The many TV cameras in the area before the collapse- and after the airplane impact- were at numerous different angles.  Since light refraction will change with the person who’s observing it, it is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for every single camera to have shown the refraction in the same way regardless of angle ( reference and source), 2) Videos only show bowing on one side of the building; if it had been heat, it would have been shown on ALL sides of the building, and 3) Every single piece of video evidence shows the columns being pulled in violently when the collapse began, meaning there’s NO POSSIBLE WAY for it to be refracted light ( sourcehttp://www.debunking911.com/quick.htm).

Is Blogging Lobbying?

OLYMPIA, Wash. — Blogger beware? State regulators are wondering whether online political activism amounts to lobbying, which could force Web-based activists to file public reports detailing their finances.

In a collision of 21st century media and 1970s political reforms, the inquiry hints at a showdown over press freedoms for bloggers, whose self-published journals can shift between news reporting, opinion writing, political organizing and campaign fundraising.
State officials are downplaying any possible media rights conflict, pointing out that regulators have already exempted journalistic blogging from previous guidelines for online campaign activity.

But the blogosphere is taking the notion seriously. One prominent liberal blogger in Seattle is already issuing a dare - if the government wants David Goldstein to file papers as a lobbyist, it will have to take him to court.

Goldstein, publisher of the widely read horsesass.org, wants to know how his political crusades could be subject to financial disclosures while newspaper writers, radio hosts and others in traditional media get a pass.

For most bloggers, Goldstein said, the work "is a hobby, a sideline. And yet they contribute greatly to the public debate and to the new journalism."

"When you start talking about regulating Internet activity, you open up a Pandora's Box," he said.

Blogs 4 Borders Goes On Hiatus, Needs Your Help

I just received a note from Jake Jacobson telling me that the weekly video podcast "Blogs4Borders" will be going on an indefinite hiatus:

Due to financial circumstances beyond our control we are forced to take an indefinite hiatus from Blogs 4 Borders. The computer we use to produce the show is broken and we do not have the funds to get it repaired. We've had a few donations in the past couple of days though (thanks guys!), and they are being set aside specifically for the computer so we can get it fixed ASAP. We hope to be up and running in the very near future, but that is out of our hands at this point. Here are some videos detailing what's going on...

I completely understand where Jake and MJ are coming from. Being a conservative vlogger or blogger like they are is a thankless task. If everybody chipped in $5 or so (more if you can afford it) so these guys can get a real camera and a computer that works.

Sitemeter's Screwup (Updated)

What the blazes was Sitemeter thinking?

I go to access my stats yesterday afternoon, and they're gone. Just a page announcing that sitemeter is moving, and I should be able to access my stats with 24 to 48 hours. Okay...

This morning, I check out Sitemeter, and login under my old password (and am forced to use a new username and password...I could type the old ones in my sleep...) and migrate my account to the new system.

I am serioulsy thinking of switching to a new counter service.

Why could they not keep their old system running? This is nuts!

Could they not have had one blogger on their team, or as a beta tester to tell them their new system was a loser???

**12.58 PM** I have been using Google Analytics in parallel with Sitemeter fr the past six weeks...good thing, too. At least I have some of my data secure from the bungling of Sitemeter.

**2.31 PM** Sitemeter finally saw fit to let me log in...and it appears to have a flash-based interface...Uggghhh! I hate hate hate Flash!!! It never works right on my system.

It has been 15 minutes...and it is still loading...loading...loading....

Immigration Watchdog Retires Website

Brook says he'll still be actively involved in the fight against illegal immigration - and you can bet your bottom dollar on that! Most websites and blogs retire within the first month. The longevity and dedication that Brook has shown in actively participating on the street level, hours shooting and editing video and researching and writing content show his passion. I don't think most people realize the time dedicated to such a task for no pay until they try it themselves and become burned out within weeks.

There really is no money in political blogging and especially in activist blogging, so we all must do other things on the side - and when it comes to careers and family, well that comes first.

I personally send a congratulations to Brook for his longevity and his dedication and wish him well in the future as he moves out of the Los Angeles area. He'll still be around on message boards and at rallies, so don't count him out.

How Many People Read Blogs?

The short answer, according to PEW, is 11% of internet users regularly read blogs, and 58% don't have a clue. The funniest observation is that 5% of internet users blog on a daily basis...so that means about half of people who read blogs have one themselves.

Okay, fine. 11% of what number?

According to World Internet World Stats, that would be about 247 million Americans who use the Internet, which would lead me to the number of 27 million daily blog readers in North America. I find that hard to believe.

The last time such a study was released, it was claimed that 8 million had blogs, and 32 million read them, and even then, it was hard to believe.

I note that even now, some of the bigger blogs like Daily KKKos gets just under a million hits a day, and a certain percentage of those hits are multiple hits from people reading the various dairies in the site. Of course, that doesn't take into account those who read via the RSS Feeds...but it can't be that many.

I suspect that many who said they read blogs really don't know what a blog is, or read blogs on Legacy Media websites, like CNN, MSNBC, FOX, or the various newspapers.I don't consider those blogs as part of the blogosphere.

I hope there is more forthcoming from this survey, and I'd like to look at their methods and how they asked the questions. I suspect we may never really get a real answer to  the question posed in the title of this post because of advertising concerns.

It would be bad for business.
