Heavy Weather Coming into WNC Mountains




I'm off to see what I can see as this system comes through. And as always, please refer to the National Weather Service for official weather information.


And on the heels of this system, we will be under a Fire Weather Watch, so no burning debris!!!

THURSDAY AFTERNOON...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN GREENVILLE-SPARTANBURG HAS ISSUED
A FIRE WEATHER WATCH...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM THURSDAY MORNING
THROUGH THURSDAY AFTERNOON.

HUMIDITY VALUES WILL FALL TO BETWEEN 20 AND 25 PERCENT OVER
WESTERN NORTH CAROLINA THURSDAY AFTERNOON. NORTHWEST WINDS WILL
GUST UP TO 25 TO 30 MPH DURING THE AFTERNOON HOURS AS WELL. ONE
AND TEN HOUR FUEL MOISTURES ARE REPORTED TO BE UNDER 10 PERCENT IN
THIS AREA.

AREAS THAT SEE MORE THAN A QUARTER INCH OF RAIN OVERNIGHT PROBABLY
WILL NOT NEED A RED FLAG WARNING FOR TOMORROW...WHILE THOSE THAT
SEE LESS WILL. THEREFORE...THE DISTRIBUTION OF RAINFALL OVER THE
NEXT 12 HOURS WILL DETERMINE WHERE THE WATCH IS UPGRADED TO A
WARNING TOMORROW.

A FIRE WEATHER WATCH MEANS THAT CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER CONDITIONS
ARE FORECAST TO OCCUR. LISTEN FOR LATER FORECASTS AND POSSIBLE
RED FLAG WARNINGS.
