Macon New Beginnings, Inc. and Macon County CareNet are pleased to announce a formal partnership agreement. Macon New Beginnings, Inc. and Macon County CareNet have been working together to address the nutritional needs of the homeless families and those families in danger of becoming homeless. This agreement demonstrates our combined commitment to address the food security challenge for those homeless or nearly homeless.
Macon New Beginnings, Inc. is helping the homeless and those in danger of becoming homeless in Macon County. Macon New Beginnings, Inc. programs provide prevention services, crisis shelter, a weekly evening meal, homeless awareness and advocacy, and service referrals. In 2015 Macon New Beginnings, Inc. served 92 homeless or nearly homeless men, women and children, and thus far in 2016 we served 154 homeless or nearly homeless.
Macon County CareNet programs strive to meet the nutritional needs of over 400 Macon County residents who are unable to provide for themselves due to crisis. CareNet’s efforts are targeted at those for whom government and other forms of food assistance is not available. CareNet addresses food assistance through children’s backpacks, Choice Food Pantry, and the Soup Café. CareNet’s Thrift store sells slightly used clothing and household items in support of its mission.
