Warm conditions will continue today, with rain chances beginning to ramp up in the mountains this afternoon ahead of an approaching cold front. The front will quickly move through the area tonight and Monday morning. Considerably cooler and drier air will spread over the region in its wake and linger for several days.

TONIGHT

Cloudy with fog developing overnight. Lows in the 40s and winds 5 to 10 mpg out of the northwest to make it feel cooler. 70% chance of rain.



MONDAY

Partly sunny with decreasing clouds to become mostly sunny in the afternoon. Highs in the 50s and 60s and winds 10 to 15 mph out of the north. 40% chance of rain.

MONDAY NIGHT

Mostly clear with lows in the mid-30s. Frost will be possible in locations that are protected from the winds out of the northeast overnight.



TUESDAY

Sunny with highs ranging from the 50s in the higher elevations to the low to mid-60s in the lower elevations. Winds 5 to 10 mph out of the northeast.

TUESDAY NIGHT

Clear with lows in the 30s.

Dense fog this morning, so please increase your following distance on the roadways and turn on your headlights so other motorists can see you. After the fog burns off, no other hazardous weather is anticipated.

For the North Atlantic...The Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of Mexico:

The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Ophelia, located over the eastern Atlantic Ocean more than 300 miles east of the easternmost Azores.

1. A broad trough of low pressure centered over the Virgin Islands and the northern Leeward Islands is producing disorganized showers and squalls over portions of the Leeward Islands and adjacent Atlantic waters. This activity is expected to spread across the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico later this morning and continue into the afternoon. Upper-level winds are forecast to remain hostile for any significant development to occur during the next day or two. However, the environment could become somewhat more conducive for development by early next week when the system begins to move northward and then recurves over the west-central Atlantic Ocean.

* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent.
* Formation chance through 5 days...medium...50 percent.
