***Flood Watch***
National Weather Service Greenville-Spartanburg SC
1018 PM EST Sat Feb 10 2018

...ROUNDS OF HEAVY RAINFALL WILL INCREASE THE FLOODING THREAT THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT...

.A plume of deep moisture will intensify from the Gulf of Mexico to the southern Appalachians the remainder of the weekend. Several rounds of moderate to heavy rain showers will develop ahead of a slowly-moving cold front, affecting southern mountain locations still moist from heavy rainfall earlier this week, and spreading throughout the mountains and foothills tonight through Sunday. Flooding may develop along small streams and perhaps main stem rivers, particularly in the Little Tennessee River and upper French Broad River basins.

...FLOOD WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH MONDAY MORNING...

* Abundant moisture arriving from the Gulf of Mexico will produce several rounds of moderate to heavy rainfall over the weekend. Rainfall totals will likely reach 2 to 3 inches across much of the southern Appalachians and the adjacent foothills, with localized 4 inch amounts possible in the higher elevations along the Blue Ridge.

* The moderate to heavy rain will fall on ground still moist from rainfall earlier in the week. Many rivers and streams are still running at elevated levels from the recent rainfall, and flooding will become increasingly likely later tonight through Sunday night.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.

NWS Hazardous Weather Outlook

..SATURDAY...Heavy rain with flooding likely.

..SUNDAY...Heavy rain with flooding likely.
