GENERAL OUTLOOK

Temperatures will be above normal through the work week as an area of high pressure gradually moves over the Atlantic. A weakening cold front will move into the area today and linger through the weekend, with upper level disturbances bringing occasional chances for precipitation. Widespread precip...including mountain snow is expected Saturday night into Sunday. Dry and warmer weather returns early in the new work week.

Saturday March 4th chilli cook off at the community building 2 to 4pm. $5 entry fee to come in and taste chilli and vote for your favorite. All proceeds go to helping a child go to gymnastics camp this summer with her team mates.

Hazards and Tropical Weather

Winds will increase from the south and southwest across the high elevations of the southern Appalachians this morning morning. Gusts of 30 to 40 mph will be common above 3500 feet, while gusts as high as 50 mph or greater are possible on exposed high peaks and ridge tops. Winds will be much weaker on the valley floors.

Accumulating snow will be possible across the North Carolina mountains Saturday through Sunday, with the best potential Saturday night into Sunday morning. The snow could be heavy at times across the northern North Carolina mountains and at the higher elevations above 3500 feet.
