1. A strong cold front will bring widespread showers and isolated thunderstorms posing a marginal risk of severe weather this morning. A brief period of very strong gradient wind gusts are possible in the immediate wake of the front, followed by a brief transition to a wintry mix across the mountains, producing light accumulations across the higher elevations.
2. Cooler and drier conditions will linger over the area on Friday and Saturday. Rain chances return Sunday and Monday, with snow showers possible near the NC/TN border on Monday.
3. Much colder air returns behind a strong cold front Monday night and lingers through at least Wednesday. Most areas will likely see temperatures at or below freezing both Tuesday and Wednesday morning.

HAZARDOUS WEATHER
A brief period of strong wind gusts from the north is expected to impact portions of the mountains and foothills this morning beginning around sunrise and continuing through the morning. The main area of concern will be in areas from along the Blue Ridge escarpment into the foothills. Gusts of 40 to 50 mph will be possible for a couple of hours in these areas.
Additionally, snow levels will fall quickly across the mountains this morning in the wake of a strong cold front. Rain is expected to briefly change to snow before the precipitation ends late this morning. Snowfall accumulation of up to an inch is possible across the North Carolina mountain counties bordering Tennessee, mainly above 3000 feet. Localized amounts of up to 3 inches are possible in the high elevations along the immediate state line. Significant travel difficulties are not expected due to warm roads resulting from the recent warm weather.

Both are in drydock for maintenance. Comfort is due out in April, Mercy in July. There was an incident a US Navy submariner was airlifted by a Danish Defense Seahawk helicopter, deployed from the Vædderen, a Danish military patrol ship. Maybe he's upset that we required medical assistance from them. That's funny, because the Mercy won't be available until July 2026 and the Comfort won't be available until at least April 2026. 42m Reply Top fan Bobby Coggins There was an incident a US Navy submariner was airlifted by a Danish Defense Seahawk helicopter, deployed from the Vædderen, a Danish military patrol ship.
