Today is the first day of school in Macon County, so be extra careful when driving today and watch out for children who may dart into traffic and school buses that are stopping to pick them up. Give yourself extra time to get where you are going.
One area to pay extra attention is the section of the US-441 Bypass that is near the entrance to the new Walmart on Dowdle Mountain Rd and the section of road all the way to the schools located on Wells Grove Road.
We've posted a map of the area we expect to be especially congested in the mornings and afternoons when school buses are travelling the roads and parents are dropping off and picking up their children.
