LOCAL OUTLOOK

High pressure centered over the western Atlantic and an upper-level trough over the eastern part of the nation will provide a southerly flow bringing moisture north from the Gulf through the weekend. Summer heat returns through the weekend and next week with a daily chance of afternoon and evening showers and storms.

SYRINGE EXCHANGE PROGRAM

On January 1, 2017, the Syringe Exchange Program of Franklin began operating a comprehensive harm reduction program to address the opioid epidemic that is impacting western NC. Opioid overdose reversal kits including naloxone are available free of charge.
