The Macon County Commissioners met last night from 6 pm to 9 pm. A video of the entire meeting will be posted online later today and segments over the next day or so. [LINK]

LOCAL OUTLOOK

Expect mild temperatures along with an increasing chance of rain through Friday. The cold front and low-pressure system should cross our region Friday night followed by much cooler and drier weather over the weekend and into the start of next week. Another cold front arrives toward the middle of next week.

TONIGHT

Patchy fog overnight. Cloudy with lows ranging from the mid-30s at the higher elevations to the lower 40s in the lower elevations. Winds 10 to 15 mph out of the southeast, gusting in the 30 mph range.



THURSDAY

Patchy fog in the morning. Cloudy skies with highs ranging from the mid-40s at the higher elevations to the mid-50s in the lower elevations. Winds 10 to 15 mph out of the southeast, gusting up to the 35 mph range. 50% chance of rain.

THURSDAY NIGHT Breezy and Rainy

Cloudy with lows ranging from the lower 40s at the higher elevation to the upper 40s in the lower elevations. Winds 10 to 15 mph out of the southeast, gusting into the 30 mph range. Near 100% chance of rain.

On January 1, 2017, the Syringe Exchange Program of Franklin began operating a comprehensive harm reduction program to address the opioid epidemic that is impacting western NC. Opioid overdose reversal kits including naloxone are available free of charge.
