Outlook

Strong high pressure and dry weather will continue through the middle of the week. Showers and thunderstorms return to the area late Thursday into Friday as a strong cold front approaches from the west.

Weather Hazards

Since growing season has started, the National Weather Service is issuing frost advisories and warnings when temperatures are expected to drop below freezing. A frost advisory has been issued for Macon County until 8 am this morning. A copy has been posted below. Otherwise, Hazardous weather is not expected today.

Strong to severe thunderstorms will be possible sometime late Thursday into Friday ahead of an approaching cold front.

.High pressure will continue to support good radiational cooling conditions across the region with light winds and clear skies. Frost will likely develop across much of the North Carolina mountains and adjacent foothills later tonight as temperatures fall into the mid 30s.



...FROST ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 2 AM TO 8 AM EDT TUESDAY...

The National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg has issued a Frost Advisory, which is in effect from 2 AM to 8 AM EDT Tuesday.

* LOCATIONS...North Carolina mountains and adjacent foothills.

* TEMPERATURES...Lows in the mid 30s.

* TIMING...From 2 am to 8 am Tuesday.

* IMPACTS...Frost could harm sensitive outdoor vegetation.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Frost Advisory means that widespread frost is expected. Sensitive outdoor plants may be killed if left uncovered.
