An unseasonably cold air mass will build into the area behind a departing cold front today, and settle over the region for the rest of the week. Expect an upper level ridge to build over the region from Sunday into next week, continuing dry, but warmer weather. The next rain maker will approach our region in the middle of next week.

...WIND ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 2 PM EDT THIS AFTERNOON...

* WHAT...Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 50 mph expected.

* WHERE...Portions of upstate South Carolina, northeast Georgia and western North Carolina.

* WHEN...Now through 2 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Gusty winds could blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Some light snow is possible at the highest elevations of the Smokies through early afternoon. Any accumulation should be an inch or less.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Air quality is in the middle range of green for most of the county, with the ridges and other higher elevations today also being in the middle range of green.

Pollen

Pollen levels are expected to be in the medium-high range (9.4 out of 12) today with Juniper, Oak, and Maple being the main culprits. Tomorrow is expected to be about the same (9.1 out of 12).
