Tdoay's briefing is limited to the weather and the results of yesterday's primaries.

OUTLOOK

Relatively dry high pressure will remain over the area into Wednesday. A subtropical airmass will spread over the area Thursday, bringing hot weather to the area which will last into the weekend, along with seasonable chances for showers and thunderstorms. More numerous showers and storms are expected this weekend ahead of a cold front, which should move through by Monday.

Hazards and Tropical Weather



Showers and thunderstorms are possible late this afternoon into the night time hours. Some of these storms could be strong to severe with the main threats being 60 mile per hour winds and hail the size of a quarter or larger. Heavy rain from these storms could also cause isolated flooding of low lying and poor drainage areas. Thursday Another round of storms is expected on Thursday. Once again the primary threat will be strong straight line winds and large hail. Areas that receive heavy rain today could see more rain on Thursday leading to possible additional flooding of saturated grounds.

This class examines features and symptoms of the different types of the disorder. It also addresses causes, risk factors, and, most importantly, treatment. Specific focus is placed on the impact for the geriatric population.

Local Primary Results

John Shearl won the County Commissioner District I Republican primary and will face Jerry Moore, who is running as an unafilliated candidate, in the general election this fall. The winner will replace the retiring Jimmy Tate.

Danny Antoine and Gary Shields won the top two slots in the County Commissioner District II Republican primary and will face Ronnie Beale and Betty Cloer Wallacein the general election this fall. Ronnie Beale and Gary Shields are the incumbents in this race.

Shawna Thun Lamb won the Clerk of Superior Court Republican primary and will face Dinah Roper Mashburn in the general election this fall. The winner will replace the retiring Vic Perry.

Brent Holbrooks won the Macon County Sheriff Republican primary and will face no opposition in the general election this fall. There is a possibility of a recount in this race, but no runoff will occur. Brent Holbrooks will replace the reting Robert Holland.

In other races, Republican Tedd Budd will face Democrat Cheri Beasley for US Senate and the winner will replace the retiring Richard Burr.

Republican Chuck Edwards defeated incumbent Madison Cawthorn and will face Jasmine Beach-Ferrara for US Congress in the 11th Congressional District of North Carolina. The winner will replace Madison Cawthorn.

Republican Kevin Corbin had no Republican challenger and will face Karen Burnette McCracken this fall in the race for the 50th District seat of the NC Senate. Kevin Corbin is the current incumbent.

Karl Gillespie had no opposition in the Republican primary and faces no opposition this fall in the race for the 120th District seat of the NC House. He is the current incumbent.
