What Joining HCA Means for Our Rural Communities
Join a panel of regional healthcare experts Monday, August 6th at 6:30 pm, as they explore what Mission’s intent to join HCA Healthcare is likely to mean for rural western North Carolina communities. The event will be broadcast live on Facebook and will include opportunities to have your questions answered by the evening’s panelists as well as resources to find more information.
Beginning at 6:30 pm, you will have the opportunity to hear from leaders and community board members from regional hospitals who traveled to central Tennessee to learn more about HCA’s commitment to rural healthcare.
Panelists you will hear from include:

The First Extra Session of 2018
Both houses of the NC General Assembly will convene today at 10 am today. No calendar has been published and no business has been scheduled. The intent is to wait for the governor to veto legislation that was passed earlier this week, then members will be called into session to override the veto.

Drier air will settle over our region today before a weak cold front slowly moves in from the northwest and becomes stationary on Saturday. The stationary front becomes a warm front heading into next week as moist flow from the Gulf returns, setting up an active and wet work week.

Walk on the Greenway with Friends of the Greenway

The Friends of the Greenway invites the community to participate in a "Walk on the Greenway" on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at 9:00 AM beginning at Big Bear Shelter on Main Street. George James's walk will cover about a half mile, talking about the environmental positives of the Beaver Pond area, how it has changed over the years, and share information on the many creatures that call this area "home".
George is a long-time member of the Friends of the Greenway and current Chair of the FROG Board. He regularly monitors the trail and specifically the Beaver Pond area. A $5 donation is suggested for this benefit walk. Send an email of your interest in participating in the walk to: frog28734@gmail.com.
