The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Tornado Watch for portions of
Northeast Georgia
Western North Carolina
Western South Carolina

* Effective this Tuesday morning and evening from 1040 AM until 700 PM EDT.

* Primary threats include...
A few tornadoes likely
Scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

SUMMARY...The remnants of Fred will continue to track northward across Georgia, with bands of thunderstorms affecting the watch area. Isolated tornadoes and gusty winds will be possible through the day.

The tornado watch area is approximately along and 60 statute miles either side of a line from 35 miles west northwest of Asheville NC to 65 miles south southeast of Spartanburg SC. For a complete depiction of the watch see the associated watch outline update (WOUS64 KWNS WOU4).

REMEMBER...A Tornado Watch means conditions are favorable for tornadoes and severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible warnings.
